If you think Richard Jefferson is better than Hedo, you're on crack. I mean, 3 years ago, maybe. But not now. Not only does Hedo have better statistical numbers, but that doesn't begin to tell the story. Hedo creates shots for himself and teammates. RJ needs someone like Kidd to create shots for him, and he's not a great passer or rebounder. He's just an athletic jumper/slasher with a decent jump shot.
Don't get me wrong, I'd love to have RJ. But Hedo is by FAR playing at a higher level than Richard Jefferson right now. If RJ were Hedo Turkoglu, the Nets would be in the playoffs.

My 2 favorite NBA teams:
1) Orlando Magic
2) Whoever is playing the Celtics

Bottom Line:
We Draft a PF, we sign a SG, and we retain Dooling and Evans. With Battie coming back, we'll be solid!
You and me have the same idea apparently.. I def wanna bring back Keyon an Mo. Arthur would be my player of choice in the draft as well. An Chill would be perfect.

Sign Kurt Thomas (or another hard nosed, defedning, rebounding power forward). Draft the best available player. Resign Keyon and Mo. Let Bogans walk. Let arroyo walk. Done.
The question is what to do with the lineup? Does hedo play a manu role? I think we would look something like this...
Nelson/Dooling
MO/JJ
Turk/Draft pick?
Shard/Thomas/Battie
Dwight/Marcin/Battie

If Jefferson had Howard drawing doubles, he'd average 28 ppg. Hell, even Shard would help out in that department. He's not a terrific defender, but he is still above average, which is more than you can say for Turk.
Put Turkoglu on this year's Nets team and he's averaging 15 ppg.
*This is not to denigrate our guy. Turkoglu has a clutch factor that Jefferson does not. Furthermore, he fits very well into our current system. There are few players who would fit better. I just think that while Turkoglu has, over the course of his career, been known as Mr. Inconsistency, RJ has truly established himself as a star in this league. It'd be a tough trade, no doubt. In the end, I do it though.

I can really see why you were denied Political Asylum with that kind of trade.
Hedo is better off with the Magic and Jefferson reminds me of Lewis remember all those great numbers he got with the Sonics because he was their only scoring threat the same thing goes for Jefferson.
Put Jefferson on a good team like the Magic and his numbers would fall big time.
So Magic much better off with Hedo then another Lewis.

The main ways this trade would help are having a RJ at SG spot and having a SOLID backup with Evans
RJ well easily put up Hedo numbers in our system, although he wont be as clutch.
Then gaining Marcus Williams is an alternative to Nelson possibly and at the least another SOLID backup
Then we are able to move Lewis back to the 3 spot and use our MLE to bring in a banger PF, as well as bring back Battie
So its not just a good trade in the sense of Hedo for Jefferson...Theres other stuff going on as well

If we are talking trading Hedo because he is likely to want an extension we can't give him, we have to look to move him for something more than Richard Jefferson who, for all his talents, is one of about 30 athletic, scoring swingmen in his talent bracket.
6'10" forwards who can handle the ball and have ridiculous shooting range do not come along often. For that reason, Orlando would need to get a rare commodity back in return. For that reason (and I realise this has minimal chance of happening) I would say try and get Jose Calderon from Toronto in a sign and trade. The Raptors have already paid TJ Ford bigtime, and I can't see both he an Calderon getting huge contracts to play 24mpg. One of them will be moved, Orlando could do with an upgrade at point guard, and Toronto needs help at small forward. I realise that this would leave Orlando in a similar position as TO, with two point guards paid up for several years, but 1) Orlando isn't paying Nelson anywhere near as much as the Raptors are paying Ford, 2) If they can get Calderon for a deal starting at $8m, they will be paying $13.5m combined for perhaps the best PG combo in the league, and 3) At 6'3", 210lb, there is no reason that Orlando couldn't play the 2 in tandem on occasion, using Calderon on smaller 2 guards defensively, and then using Nelson as a shooting guard on offense, which suits his game anyway.
Combine that with drafting a power forward and picking up a SG with the mid-level, re-sign Evans and Dooling, and you have:
Howard/Gortat/Foyle
Battie/Draft Pick/Cook
Lewis/Evans/Bogans
Free Agent/Dooling/Redick
Calderon/Nelson/Dooling
All that said, personally I wouldn't want to see Hedo go. He's a special player, but if a deal comes along that makes the Magic better, can't rule anything out.

ur not going to get jose calderon, if ur going to get a toronto point guard it's going to be tj ford.
colangelo has said about a million times that jose is re-signing and is coming back to toronto next season.

Hence why I said "and I realise this has minimal chance of happening".
