McGee is going to be much better. He will be what Keon Clark could have been, had he not gone all 'Ricky Williams'.

JaVale has huge, huge potential, but despite his very flashy/nice looking moves, he apparently has terrible fundamentals. This is from draft express (who are generally going to give you a less biased, better researched opinion than anybody on a forum):

Struggles to establish position and finish in the paint, settles for some incredibly awkward off-balance shots, and is virtually a black hole with his passing skills

Both guys are interesting prospects, but I have to give the edge to Jordan because he's going to be able to do more with less pure basketball skills. I saw McGee's highlights, it's interesting, but it's hard to see how his game translates to the NBA game. Both guys will do well if they work hard enough. But I think Jordan will have easier transition if he works on his body and learn to use his body to work for him.

Thanks for the link.

And besides that tip dunk, what other videos of DeAndre are available?

Wow, i completely forgot that I had seen this guy play before . His negatives must be EXTREMELY high not to be considered a top 5 pick a la Stromile Swift. The number of guys who can pull off some of his moves are pretty small. Most teams would take a chance with this type of player almost irregardless of his negatives.

McGee reminds me of guys like Michael Olowokandi, Patrick O'Bryant etc etc etc. Name me one player picked in the lottery from a small school that's ever amounted to anything over the past 10-15 years?

^ His momma says your wrong Smills. McGee is a mix of Chandler, MJ and Dirk.

anyone who compares Mcgee to POB is crazy. O'bryant doesn't have half the skillset of Mcgee.

I dont see how he can't go Top 5 after watching is highlights.
I just don't get it, a guy his size doing those moves?
7 feet tall?
Not in the Top 5 easily?
I don't get it

He most certainly is a POB type pick. Big that dominates the little leagues and gets drafted in the lottery because of it. Olowokandi is another. They may have different skillsets, but the likelihood he accels in the NBA is about on par with POB.

Not all of basketball is highlights, thank God. In that world Vince Carter is the GOAT and James White would be a top 5 pick.

McGee has a lot of skill. He just seems so immature when he plays though. For instance at times his shot selection and decision making are poor. Most of his problems can be fixed by getting more experience. Unless some team is willing to let him play and make mistakes, he will be a bust.

I think that is somewhat reasonable. I would use him primarily in the post and make him play within the foul line--only using a long jump shot in a time of panic or desperation even though he can shoot it.

Simply at 7-1 240+ with his long arms and athletic ability[of course Im assuming he is getting and will continue to get stronger physically] with a good touch and ballhandling skills--he really would be quite a load to stop if he was shooting 12-15 shots in the post--he knows how to seal he has good touch and length at the hoop-- he just needs to play like an interior big man instead of some kind of hybrid 4. I think his mother[who said she taught him] put to much womens game into his head. Most female players do play from the 3 point line in--even most opf the post players step out---this cannot be Javale--Javale has to concentrate on 5 things. Post offense Post defense passing[because you can see he has that skill] free throw shooting and getting stronger[for rebounds and holding position]. If he does these 5 things he will easily be a top 5 player from this draft when people look back in 3-4 years.

He doesnt remind me of POB at all. POB is no where near as skilled doesnt run the floor the same etc.. He looks like he has snippets of Camby Rasheed Bynum and some KG -- that being said he should follow the path Bynum has gone--post play passing defense rebounding shotblocking--stay near the hoop.

This would scare me--like I mentioned in the post below. He can have great success as a pure 5 player[as long as he works hard on his strength] if his mother is giving him hallucinations of being a 2-3-4-5=he will be all over the place and that has been his priamry negative. The bottom line is he needs to go the route Bynum went--he should be taught be whoever worked with Bynum because he is very skilled. The mpther mentioning Mike Jordan--I thought she knew what she was talking about. If he wants success--play like a Kevin Mchale Bynum Tim Duncan--stay within the foul line and play like a true 5. That is just plain horrible advice to give him the idea to be a perimeter player--he's 7-1 who wants a 7-1 player shooting 18 footers?

Don't let Don Nelson hear you say that, he'd probably just call dibs on McGee right now.
