Hawks - Celtics Preview

The road certainly wasn't kind to the Hawks, who were blown out in Games 1 and 2 of the best-of-seven series at TD Banknorth Garden.

Now they have to see if they can make a stand in Game 3 Saturday at Philips Arena.

"This third game is crucial for us because we can't put ourselves in a situation where we are three games down and think we have any chance of reeling off four straight wins to come back and snatch this series," Marvin Williams said. "Everybody knows we've been a better home team [25-16] than road team [12-29] all year.

The Celtics expect as much.

"You have to expect a better team," Celtics captain and All-Star Paul Pierce said. "Most teams in the NBA play better when they're at home. They'll have their home crowd behind them. They'll be better prepared. So we have to bring our 'A' game. I don't think we've played our best game yet. So we've got to be ready for a test down in Atlanta on the road."

If anyone in Dallas' group is coming from the Augusta side of I20 outside of 285 (Conyers, etc.) I could use a volunteer to hitch a ride with so I'll have a little time to sober up before heading home after the game Saturday.

Can't hurt to ask.

I hold these truths to be self evident:

We will get blown the f--- out for the 3rd game in a row.

I will be highly intoxicated and throwing things at anyone near me wearing green in my section.

The last 2 games of the disastrous Knight/Woodson era are almost nigh...(got to find the silver lining in this embarassing series)

Fellas I really think we should settle on a place to get together before the game and have a few beers somewhere right outside of Phillips.

I saw a place mentioned in a HS thread where you could get some large $5 drafts somewhere around Phillips or the GWCC. That would be an idea.

That was the best game thread ever!! I mean that. If you are going to the game, my suggestion is to drink lots of beer and be really loud!!!!!

Atlanta: where the highways are beautiful.

If we are gonna have a shot to stay close in one this is it. We played well on D last game and if the shots are gonna fall they are gonna fall at home.

Boston is favored to win by 8.5 points. It's already gone up .5 since the line originally came out.

The O/U is 187.

That would be Gorin's in the CNN Center. $5 for domestics, $6 for imports and it's real big cups. You can also get an even bigger cup for $7. I've got that routine down and it's definetely the way to go.

I would love to make it for a little pregame toast but I'm working at the game before it begins. I've got the media credentials and all that but I'm also in Evil's group and can't pass up a chance to sit with some fellow realgmers.

Maybe we could also get together for a quick post game toast as well? It would work either way as we can either be drowning our sorrows or celebrating our win (beer always seems to be the right move). What do you guys say?

haha you know what I mean. The skyline and blurred lines are cool looking... I sound high don't I? Oh well this should be a fun one. Hopefully The Hawks aren't playing that weird 70's porn music that I heard last time I watched a game in Atlanta.

I wouldn't be surprised if this game is close for most of it. But I think the the C's will take it by 10-15.

LOL! You never know what to expect at Hawks games. Bizarre celebrity sightings, half empty arena, the worst half-time shows you could possibly imagine, ugly cheerleaders, Harry the freaking Hawk, the porn organ, good times!!!

We used to have this dude in the upper deck at the old Omni that would do a striptease in the break between the 3rd and 4th quarter - BUT ONLY AT PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS GAMES. Weird town this is.

heck yeah! I'm a Falcons season ticket holder. I live in Augusta.

Normally I get on 285 and ride the Marta in from Indian Creek. If I rode with someone I figure it would give me a chance to sober up a little bit from the pregame.

I was hoping to get to the Phillips/CNN area around 6 or maybe earlier. What time are you leaving Conyers?

I hope we get shirts. We need to be fired up and get our players fired up for the 1st playoff game ever in Philips!!!!

Hopefully this game will be exciting like the last home game against Boston, except we come away with the win. I will puke if we get beat by Sam Cassell and have to see his ugly mug telling us how big his balls are again.
