Lets get Camby!

I used the trade machine and we could get Camby for Marvin and Speedy, probably having to include a future draft pick. We could also resign Chill and send a package of Marvin and Chill for Camby, probably being able to leave out the draft picks. I'm sure there are a few other possibilities as well, but Marvin would need to be the center of the trade for it to work out for us.

I know people say all the time that JSmoove has to play the 4. I'm a season ticket holder and I think that's bullcrap. He has been extending his range on his jumper and he's far more qualified to play the 3 then Marvin is. Marvin averages 0.1 3pters per game. That is horrendous for a SF. I know JSmoove doesnt exactly stroke it but I'm fine with him taking a couple 3's each game, and apparently he is too since he does it all the time now. If he focuses all summer on improving his 3 and can get above 30% he'd be a perfect SF.

This allows Horford to play his natural position of PF which will open up his offensive game more and allow him to play D against players more his size.

Then there is the huge benefit of having Camby at C. The article says he is dissapointed in his role in the offense in Denver. Well he could have a much much larger role here in Atlanta. It would also give us another proven rebounder and shot blocker and one of the best defenders in the NBA. Imagine the middle being covered by Smith, Horford, and Camby. Unstoppable blockapalooza.

Getting Camby would push us over the top and make us into one of the elite in the East. We also gotta hire someone other than Woodson, but you guys all know that already.

Reasons you don't want Camby:

He gives you a rebounder and weakside shotblocker.

He is, however, a horrible defender. He doesn't show on any pick and roll, and teams just figured that if you run a 1-5 pick and Roll on Denver you could score all day.

Here, that would still leave them Josh Smith at the rim, but he would get into quick foul trouble trying to make up for Camby.

Shotblocking is not a sign of great defense and that is certainly the case here.

Also, he isn't happy with his role in Denver because he doesn't get featured on offense. If he came here, he should be the 5th option on offense as a starter. he still believes he shoudl be a scorer too, but he shouldn't get shots over Josh, Joe, Bibby or Horford (in your proposed trade).

He is just paid too much money to be a bad defender, who want to score more. If he was content with his role in Denver and made a committment to rotate and show on defense, I would love him, but part of the reason Denver is so bad defensively is him.(no that Carmelo, AI or JR are helping in that regard.)

Plus, Josh's best offense right now is taking powerforwards off the dribble. He won't be able to do this against Small forwards. He will only be able to score on the block...as will Al horford....as will camby...and there you see the problem. With Marvin, at least he can take SF's off the dribble consistantly.

Definitely with rip on this one.

We are definitely a better offensive team with a tradition SF/Smith/Horford than we would be with Smith/Horford/Camby... the question is whether we'd be better on D. While it would be intriguing to have a team with two of the best shotblockers in the game, Camby NEVER guards good centers, KMart has to because Camby makes KG look like Jake Long. Also, I think Josh Smith is best suited to guard this generation's power forwards.

No you guys will get torched everynight with the pick an roll! I think he D is overrated. Sure he puts up good numbers but just watch a nuggets game and you'll see what i mean.
