Who will be the better NBA PG: Bayless or Mayo?
Personally, I think Mayo will be the better PG if he's given a chance and with NBA talent. I don't think he's as selfish as people seem to think.

Mayo is NOT an NBA PG...at least not one that any team should be expecting him to start at (and for the team to be excited about). He might be fine occassionally switching over to the point but he's a SG. He just does not dribble well enough to be an starting NBA PG. Passes damn well though.
Bayless has better dribbling skills which in my humble opinion is the most important skill an NBA starting PG (or really any PG for that matter) must have. Otherwise, you're looking at turnover city with the types of ball hawks that many NBA teams have to guard the guy with the ball.

Being selfish isn't the problem, it's his skillset that is.

I agree on both counts. Mayo looks to be the better player but Bayless is the better fit at PG in the NBA.

Then definitley Bayless. If Mayo was forced to play the point then I think he'll struggle and Bayless will end up being better. Mayo is just not an NBA PG. Doesn't mean you can't have the offense go through him or have the ball in his hands but it's probably more ideal to have someone else bring the ball up court (and/or handle the ball under pressure) and then get it to his hands so he can do his thing (deft passes into the post or to cutters, shooting jumpers off screens, etc.) in a half court system.

For a guy like Mayo, the position he's listed at doesn't mean much. Kobe Bryant and Dwayne Wade are both listed at SG, but they often bring the ball up and in most cases run the offense the way you want your PG to do so.
I see Mayo being very similar to those two. No, he won't be listed at PG but he'll perform most of the functions of one.

I was thinking Larry Hughes, but I don't mind that comparison.

I mentioned Brandon Roy, but was also thinking Joe Johnson. I didn't type it because I'm lazy.
Mayo had a higher basketball IQ at the age of 4 than Larry Hughes will ever have.
But I see him putting up stats similar to Larry Hughes, Stephen Jackson, or Ricky Davis. Essentially 18-20 pts, 5-6 assists, 5-6 boards. That is if he works to be a well rounded player. Or he could be just a straight scorer and put up 20-24, but without the other stats. Of course his defense will be better than the aforementioned.
I like the idea of Mayo with Randy Foye. They'd compliment each other well.

Why do people not know Mayo's position? He is pretty big. I mean he is one of the biggest names coming out of the draft and people don't even know what position he plays and they post at the draft site. I mean that is a pretty big thing not to know.
Mayo will play sg in the nba. Just because a guy can pass a dribble doesn't mean he will play pg in the nba. When he is undersized yes and Mayo is 6'4 but will be listed at 6'5. That is the same size as Ray Allen. Wade is 6'3 and a half listed at '6'4 and he plays sg. He is not Gilbert here guys. He is gonna play sg. Even Gil should play sg but Mayo is a sg.
