Is Woodson a distraction?

Post#1 » by evildallas » Fri May 2, 2008 7:19 pm

Jeff Schultz Article

Quick read about Woodson comments in Boston about if he's coach at the end of the season.

But Woodson has been doing this for weeks now. As focus on him has increased, he has increasingly alluded to the Hawks' youth and personnel deficiencies, indirectly pointing the finger at general manager Billy Knight. (Safe to say both sides have ammunition in that debate.)

Again I don't think Woodson's comments really affect the team's focus, but he isn't exactly being part of the solution.

Meh. I think we're doing the best we can do with what we have. We did win two games this series. We'll be back next year hopefully with a better coach.

Yeah I read that. The funny thing is, he's saying this crap to protect his job but the new GM isn't going to want a coach who is going to deflect criticism like that (look, if you aren't good at least be media savvy, right?).

Woodson is probably gone either way. I will continue to give him some credit though, he clearly poured everything he had into this job and cares a lot about his players. Unfortunately, he isn't a very good coach (at least for this team).

He's gone no matter what. My only doubt from this point on is wether we'll get a new GM as well.
GO HAWKS.

I would love to keep woodson as a assistant coach. He just isn't head coaching material. he obviously is a good assistant.

As much as I dislike Woodson, I hope he has enough backbone to not accept stepping down to an assistant with the team he just coached. I mean that's demeaning.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
