OK, i am about to p**s every body off because it p**sed me off too, but here it is:
so basically, we are getting Bynums opinion and not an experts opinion or an official statement, yet I just herd on ESPN that it is official that Bynum wont return at all. at least this article has it as "not likely".

"If he could play, he'd definitely be in the plans," Clemons said. "But he's not dressing and until he says he can play, I guess you have to say we are resigned to moving on without him."
Although Bynum did not rule out the possibility of playing, if the Lakers were to reach the NBA Finals next month, he seemed accept the likelihood that he won't be a part of this playoff run, except for in spirit.
"Most definitely it's because of my age," Bynum said. "But I don't want to go out there if I'm not ready."

the next paragraph from that same article. looks like the medical staff (either by themselves or in agreement with player wishes) has shut him down:
Under the medical staff's orders, Bynum is not allowed to run, jump or do any type of explosive court work. His time typically is spent doing core training and cardiovascular conditioning. Bynum said he gets on the court to do some light shooting and occasionally will sneak in a dunk or two.

I think you guys are being to hard on him. Maybe he didn't rehab lie Kobe would have and done it for 23 hours a day but he is not sitting out when he could play for money. If he did that Phil would know and leak it to the media or the Lakers would be mad and leak it. That would be like Shaq not working out or getting surgery as soon as the season starts instead of the summer and that was blown up and this would be to. We just have to hope 7 months will be a real timetable this time.

If he doesn't play, he can get a contract based upon his potential.
If he does play and has problems, he'll lose big time money.
It's not financially beneficial to HIM to play.
If this is true I dont want Bynum on this team. If he is more concerened about money than winning he is not a player the Lakers should want or keep. I don't think Bynum does not want to play I believe he can't.

yeah, but when you turn on your BSPN bulls**t decoder it reads "Bynum is not cleared by doctors to run on the court, to dunk the ball (even though he he sneaks a couple every practice when nobody is looking[I read in the LA times]), or do any movements other than forward movements.TommyTheCat wrote:the lastest espn report said that bynum's not able to run, jump or do defensive slides. if that's the case, he shouldn't be playing.

i think there would be some issues with that but i think it would make bigger problems for any opponents. his defense and rebounding would be a great benefit

Man, if we don't get him back, I can't see us winning this year. The conference is tight as hell. Against a good defensive team, I know Gasol and Odom will dissapear that would lead to Kobe having to carry the team.
We need Bynum back asap. He can get us those easy lobs from Kobe that seems to break the will of the opponents. Most of all, the penetrators are scare to penetrate with him in the middle and this includes CP3, he can't do those lobs to Chandler, Bynum will block it everytime.

I'm really impressed with some people's knowledge.

I thought that to. I actually thought without Bynum we would miss the playoffs although we probably would have if not for the trade but that is a different issue. Gasol I don't think will disapear. Plus they became the first seed team without Bynum in the tough West, they swept the Nuggets without Bynum and Kobe won mvp without Bynum.
If Bynum were playing we would be the biggest favorites in the history of sports. We would sweep the Jazz beat the Hornets/Spurs in 5 games and win in the finals in 4-5 games.
Without Bynum we are one of the top 5 teams in the playoffs and maybe even the top 3. We have just a good chance as anybody.

you're probably going a little overboard there
