The offense is general has stopped moving the ball. They are best when KG has the ball in the high post. Pierce cuts to the basket and allen tries to come off picks on the opposite side. When is the last time they have ran that? Game 2 maybe.

I think Paul's hip is killing him also.

Lebron has been playing good defense. And when Rondo is in the game the paint is packed since West doesn`t cover him outside, so there is just no room for driving to the rim.

Besides Pierce is the most effecitve when he has the ball in his hands a lot. When you go to KG down low, when you look for Allen coming off the screens, when Rondo is dribbling the ball too much, there just aren`t that many plays for him.

It might be a good idea to go to Pierce in the first quarter to start him going. Put House in instead of Rondo so there is better spacing and more room for Paul to operate. If he is aggressive he can maybe get Lebron in foul trouble. The problem is also that Pierce usually overpowers opposing SF`s but James in stronger, so he can`t get to the rim like he normally does.

The problem with Pierce is that some of his fans are whiners. Screw him.

Like everyone else, PP has trouble with LaBron, who is taller, stronger, faster and younger.

I don't think PP is an issue. His scoring is always down against LaBron but he is working hard on D and not blowing up mentally.

The Celtics have problems to be sure but I honestly don't think PP is one of them.

LaBron is just a brutal match up for him.

I agree with what you said, but it's weird because LeBron has NEVER been known as a good defender. They should be able to account for this and adjust, but they don't

You know what's wrong with Pierce? It's called Lebron. Noticed how as soon as Lebron switched off of PP and Sasha Pavlovic was on him, he went on a little run. Lebron's too big, fast and strong for Pierce to drive on and has to settle for jumpers.

And we were having this (Please Use More Appropriate Word) conversation here about how Lebron can't play D or isn't built to play basketball. I forgot who was saying that, but what a bunch of morons they were. I think those people can shut the **** up now.

LaBron had him so frustrated one year that he turned into a 6 year old and spit at the Cleveland bench.

I am OK with PP this series. I posted my overall opinion of the Celts in this thread.

How could you be happy with Pierce's play this series? Yeah, LeBron hasn't had a dominating game yet but Pierce and Posey are getting a lot of help and as a result the Cavs role-players have had some very good games.

Has Pierce fallen so far in public opinion that we are now OK with Pierce when he averages 12.5ppg and 4.8rpg on 34.6% shooting while not getting to the line or being a threat from three-point range? Come on. Pierce has been terrible and it's a major reason why the series is tied.

Agreed...Pierce has been atrocious. If he'd been half as good as he was during the regular season, we're up 3-1 in this series.

I *do* think that LeBron is not a good defender. He makes up for his deficiencies with his size and speed, but he is not a good overall defender. Pierce is helping to make him look even better, though....

I think Lebron can be a great defender when he wants to because he has all the physical traits to be one. However, defense, unlike offense is more about effort and athleticism than offense, which requires more basketball skills.

I agree that he doesn't always bring the defensive effort/intensity, but his physical gifts make him a tough beat when he puts his mind to it. You can clearly see the difference in Pierce's game when Pavlovic is on him vs. when Lebron is.

You are basicly saying that no-one is going to beat LBJ on offense? That's not true, If you want to beat your defende you shuold be able to SHOOT from the outside, DRIVE to the hoop, have a good BALLHANDLING ability and a STRONG body to absorbe contacts... Paul got the whole package, if he can't beat LeBron, then he is not playing up to his level...

CARON BUTLER

.460 FG%
6 RPG
4 APG
2 SPG
18,7 PPG

And he's no Paul Pierce.

PAUL PIERCE

.346 fg%
5 RPG
3.5 APG
1 SPG
12,5 PPG

And he's no Caron Butler.

He isn't and NEVER will be nowhere near MJ or Kobe, he can guard SLOW SG/SF but no way he can guard consistently, Kobe, PP and other offensive studs. He's 6'9" and he weights has hell, no way he's so much quick to guard an offensive supestar, he maybe fast, alot fast, in open field or running the 100's but he's not quick.

Of course, Lebron's quick- to say otherwise is ridiculous. His quickness is a big part of his ability to consistently drive to the hoop even in the half court.

It's way too premature to say what kind of defender Lebron will be during his career; he certainly has the ability to be a great defender, and when he puts in the effort (in the 4th quarter all season, against Pierce this series, against Kobe earlier this year- there was a stretch where Kobe couldn't get around Lebron) he is a very formidable defender.

And I've seen a fair amount of Cavs games this year- Lebron guards point guards too (he guarded Chris Paul when the Cavs played the Hornets)- so yeah Lebron is definitely quick enough to be a good defender, and stay with Pierce.

Besides, Pierce does seem to have lost some speed from previous years- he can still get by the likes of Pavolic, but Lebron's combination of speed and size irks him.

I really hope that this off season Pierce commits himself to shedding some pounds, and working on his speed.

Agreed, as soon as Pavlovic was on Paul, he started to warm up.

I just think LeBron's size and speed make his D look better than it is because he can compensate for it a bit.

Paul usually relies on his strength and size to get points on smaller guards, and uses his quickness to get around bigger, stronger forwards.

Lebron nullifies any physical advantage that Pierce would use on other players. Paul's not quick enough to go around Lebron. And when he does actually get around Lebron, the spacing on the floor during these road games has been so poor that Paul's having to face another 2-3 guys on his way to the hoop.

If I'm Doc Rivers, I play Paul alongside Posey and House more often. Let Pierce conserve energy on defense and let Posey guard Lebron. Let House and Posey be the 3 point shooters on offense so Paul's got more room to get to the hole. I'd also like to see Pierce get ahead of everyone before the defense sets, although it's tough to run when you've become physically exhausted trying to guard Lebron.

First of all, using "never" and "nowhere" in a same sentence makes it a double negative, which means you are in essence saying that he will be near MJ/Kobe. The rest of your post are just as poorly constructed, but I'll leave it up to your teachers to teach you those.

Second of all, of course Lebron can't cover guys that are much smaller and quicker. As good as KG is on D, would you put him on Chris Paul because he's their best player? That's a pretty idiotic thing to say. However, for his size and strength, Lebron is ultra quick, so he's able to cover a wide range of players. Furthermore, with his combination of size, strength and quickness, he can cover and even shut down most players around his size, as he's doing with Pierce and he has done during the regular season against Kobe when he was on him.

Finally, where did you get the idea that he's not quick? There is no player his size that's quicker. That means that there are a lot of players who are smaller, who aren't as quick as Lebron. In any one-on-one situation, the offensive player has the advantage because that's how good these NBA players are, but if you can do a good enough job bothering the offensive player, with help D, you can limit his effectiveness by playing him to certain shots.
