REMEMBER JIRI WELSCH?
Do you remember Jir Welsch? how about Pervis Ellison? Greg Minor? JR Bremer? Travis Knight? Rick Pitino?
I guess what this post is about is to realize even though were all getting soo mad about the playoffs to realize what we have right now is special, its taken us 20 years to get here and weve went through soo many bad teams. Whether you hate Doc Rivers, Kevin Garnett or even Paul Pierce just realize were in a situation to win a championship, we might be tied in the 2nd round but we still have a chance, we still have homecourt and we may not see this again for 20 years!
Now Ill still be complaining about various things the next few weeks but just remember while you vent out your anger to just ENJOY the rest of this season, you never know when the next Jiri Welsch will show up

The wrost thing is that even when we got a young team with one great player (like Atlanta) we don't like it either... I just simply DON'T known what it takes to a C's fan to be satisfied and positive... Maybe it's impossible...
PS: I reacall myself pretending that Greg Minor or Todd Day would have been great players, I remeber Milt Palacio clutching, I remember Waltah jacking up insane treys, I remember Rick Pitino drafting our next young Superstar in Ron Mercer(I've buyed his original jersey), I remember Bird and McHale retiring, I remember Reggie and Len dying, I remember Kevin Gamble, Ed Pinckney hustling, I remember our franchise player Dino Radja, I remember Bee Brown's no-look dunk, I remember Sherman Douglas eating the ball on offense, I remember the X-man, I remember Nique playing PF and not be able to dunk anymore, I remember the Big Stif Eric Montross, I remeber Eric Williams being the soul of the team, I remember the V-Train, I remember Jerome Moiso, I remember Joe Forte wearing a Lakers vintage jersey...

As bad as those memories should be, looking back there all pretty fun, except for the deaths

I am not sure what you mean it has taken 20 years to get here. Thus far the 2001/2002 celtics have had a better post season because I believe they had already finished off their second round opponent which was the pistios where they won games 2 and 5 in detriot.
It remains to be seen if this team will be better than the 02 team was in the play-offs.

Wow, great memories from this topic. I remember, at different points, talking myself into JR Bremer, Milt Palacio, Delonte West, and Marcus Banks being the point guard of the future. I loved watching the growth of Big Al, Ryan Gomes, Gerald Green, and Paul Pierce grow as players. That 2001/2002 run in the playoffs was incredible, especially that 21 point comeback with Pierce and Antoine leading the way, helped by EWill, Waltah, Strick, Tony Delk etc. I even bought a Kedrick Brown jersey because I thought he was going to be a big star. Even the team last year was fun to watch because they were so young and you could see them get better all year. While the 18 game losing streak was hard, it really showed what those young guys were made of. I loved seeing Big Al hit that game winner against Miami, and seeing Tony and Gerald grow and get better.
Obviously this year is better, but if we can't win a road game and bow out of the playoffs this round, then I'd have to say that the 2001/2002 team was better. They overachieved entirely to get to the conference finals, while this team is underachieving if they lose now. I think that some of us are disappointed because it's always more fun to watch a young overachieving team instead of the veteran favorites.

Well obviously ya that team was ahead of where we are now but honestly they had no chance of winning anything if they got to the finals. This team on the other hand whether they can win on the road or not has a realistic chance on winning a championship. That is what I mean about 20 years to get here, 20 years to finally be relevant again

That 01/02 team was my favorite team Ive ever seen, I went to all the playoff games and everyone was incredible especially the comeback but still you cant honestly say the 01/02 team was better because they won one more round.

was this the kid that mike used to say took the MBTA to the game or something like that?
It really has been one hell of a year for the celtics. I wouldn't believe it this time last year that I would look at this board and not see everyone's thoughts on whom we should draft
