strategy for game 6.

Post#1 » by TallDarknHandsome » Fri May 16, 2008 2:03 pm

I noticed something from game 5. The celtics should run pick and roll with KG and Rondo all day. If they trap rondo, he would kick it to KG for an easy jumpshot. If they don't step out on rondo he has the quickness to get to the rim. I don't think the Cavs can defend that play. Thoughts.

The stratagy should be to kick Ray in his you know what, and show Wally why we traded him, Delonte, and the #5 pick for someone who hasn't paid dividends in the playoffs yet.

The strategy for Game 6 is to figure out how we are going to win game 7.

Last series we apparently gave the Hawks double shots of booze

But Wally,West, and Ben Wallace seem to be on to the pollen trap.

Honestly how are we going to help the Celts win game 7 if they're old enough to know not to get drunk and smart enough to know about the pollen!!!

I say the strategy is to score more points than cleveland when the game ends. Besides that keep on movin the ball on offense and don't stop executing in the 4th quarter.

As KC Jones once said to Bill Russell (commentator for TBS in those days) in a half time interview when asked what he told the team to get them to rally for a comeback in the second half

"Gosh guys, I think we need to score more points than them"
Full of sound and fury; signifying nothing

The Big Ticket is the Big thing. He needs to take it to them early and often. He needs to get a little greedy about things and I am not talking about from 20 ft. The refs have been quick with the whistles at times on him early in games so that has had an effect. But he has got to demand that double team to free up Paul, we can't expect Rondo to knock down 20 fts on the road to open up the offense.

The TEAM needs to play Defense. I'd actually be inclined (even though I know it will never happen) to start Posey over Ray. Then Paul has more energy on offense since he can LOCK UP Wally. They can not stop KG, he needs to DO WORK!

Deactivate Sam Cassell. If he doesn't play tonight, we'll win.

Yea, I might actually switch Ray onto Lebron early, with Paul hopefully completely stifling Wally which I believe is a huge key for the Celtics. Ray is obviously not a good matchup for Lebron but the Celtics are basically double teaming Lebron every chance they get so its not like he'll be on an island defensively. Switching the matchups also makes it more difficult for Lebron to cover Pierce everytime down the court due to cross matchups. Overall it helps Pierce stay fresh to perform better on the offensive end.

I'd also do as the first person stated. Use Rondo in Pick and Roll/Pop action with KG. More importantly... LET RONDO RUN THE SHOW! He is the one player that the Cavs will really struggle to guard when the ball is in his hands. When the Cavs double Rondo it leaves Pierce, Ray, and KG with less coverage rather than vica versa.

Finally, I'd find House and Tony Allen some minutes in this game. No Sam Cassell!

Tony Allen simply NEEDS to get minutes backing up Ray Allen. And if Ray ain't hitting in the first quarter, get TA in their quick.

At worst, he can play LeBron on D, letting Pierce get rest on Wally so PP can score on Offense.

Plus, Tony is athletic and can slash and run on these guys, that's how you CRUSH Cleveland, by playing uptempo because they aren't good enough to score with a team like that.

Get Tony Allen some minutes. At the expense of Ray Allen, or even Sam Cassell.

He scored nearly 20 points in 7 out of 12 playoffs games, I don't know what playoffs are you looking at, withuot Ray our PO run would have been stopped in atlanta... He played better that PP in the last Cleveland game... He got 3to or more in 3 games, PP in 6 games... Cleveland decided not to die with Ray's shoot and has given KG, Rondo and PP the possibilities to show their abilities, of this 3 guys ONLY KG responded for all the games(minus the 4th quarter of game 4), Rondo s****ed in both game 2 and 3, PP in games 1, 3 and 4. It's just a game plan, neutralize RAY, everytime Rondo gets an open look it's because of Ray, everytime KG goes 1vs1 it's because of RAY, every(rare) time PP goes past his defender it's because of RAY. Italy won a f**king World Cup because every single team double Totti and the teammates got more space, Ray just put our players in good scoring situations because all the attentions he gets, is the fail to use this situation in their advantage it only thir fault.

PS: Ray isn't Bird when used to score, even when he was triple teamed, accept the fact that Larry isn't palying anymore.

To win just listen to Tommy Heinsohn (or Red Auerbach for that matter):

Attack the rim, move the ball, and play defense. Do all three.

Do just two of the three and there will be a game seven.

Ray is getting shut down by Wally Szczerbiak, yea Wally........Szczerbiak, the same guy that posters said couldn't guard a chair when he played here. That makes me want to give him a pass.
Yea, his trade brought us Garnett, but how good is the deal if he doesn't pull his weight? He is a big part of this team and is choking, what more can I say? No Championship and the year is a failure, just ask Garnett.
