There is a huge problem with that. He'll be older, play even less defense, but with the same ego and personality. It's obvious that Doc can't handle him now, what makes you think he can next year? It's better to get rid of cancer, instead of wasting a roster spot on trash.

Agreed. Doc just can't be trusted with a GP or Cassell on the roster. Yes in theory he could be a nice third option. In practice he ends up being a first option off the bench!

I liked Cassell but I have officially crossed over. he is not good for this team at all. I don't want to hear about the Atlanta game - had Eddie and TA had his minutes maybe we would have had the spark we needed to win one of thse road games.

If I hear another mediot talk about what a great pick up he has been I am going to flip out. It's obvious these guys DIDN'T WATCH THE TEAM. Umbutu is DEAD. Our 'second unit" is lifeless with him anchoring it. It's awful.

It's not that much different then Gomes who languished on the bench and only so PT after injury. People talk about Doc's coaching - but its his rotations that kill me. He is SO stubborn with older players.

Danny has to save Doc from himself..

Personally I'd like to keep TA because he is a real X factor. When he is on his game he is one of the better players in the league - seriously. Granted with his injuries that hasn't happened much but considering he costs nothing I would keep him.

And House really answered all his critics I thought and played well for us BEFORE he got his minutes swiped by Cassell.

You might as well keep Pruitt unless we draft another PG/SG of the future.
He has looked okay in his minimal minutes.

How far the team goes will influence how many changes are made. The biggest issue of the offseason is going to be Posey. If he opts out then he likely has someone who is going to give him a full MLE deal. While I think it is really important to get him back I don't think that Ainge will go there for him this offseason. This situation dictates the rest of the offseason.

The young guys under contract you can just assume they will be back.

The problem with House that everyone keeps skimming passed is that he has been totally ineffective. I think he made his first shot of the playoffs and he hasn't made another basket. While mins have been limited we don't have the chance to give him 20 mins to get adjusted. The reason Doc would go to him is that either Rondo, Sam, or Ray is ineffective, going to him to either lay bricks or worse not even shoot accomplishes what?

I know everyone is peeing thier pants about Sam but nobody else is getting it done off the bench either and that is the problem. Guys aren't getting the same number of easy looks they were getting in the regular season and they aren't finishing the ones they do get. Sam can at least get a shot.

Are you serious? Sam shouldn't take another shot the rest of the playoffs. In fact, he shouldn't play another minute. He should be deactivated immediately. We are better off passing the ball around and getting 24-second violation with Eddie House than we are with running our "offense" with Cassell. At least Eddie will try to play D.

If Sam's struggling on offense, shouldn't this guyat least try to play D? He doesn't. UGH!!!

Really no reason to include that type of language.

Stay- Posey (picks up his option), Powe, Davis, Pruitt, T.Allen (accepts qualifying offer), Scal (:banghead:)

Gone- House, Cassell, Brown

Incoming- First Round Pick (Please Bill Walker or Joey Dorsey  ), backup point guard, wing/big guy depending on draft pick

Analysis: I really wish we could dump Scal what a waste of a roster spot he has become and hes signed for 2 more yrs lol. Posey, Powe, Davis, Pruitt all have guaranteed contracts they will be back. T.Allen I don't see getting big money with his low mins and injuries. He should be back on a one yr qualifying deal he hasn't earned anything more than that. Cassell I wouldn't resign hes 39 and isn't the same player clearly. PJ Brown we had to beg to come out of retirement he isn't coming back to play 100+ games get real. Eddie House I wouldn't mind back but Id rather just have Pruitt as the 3rd PG and Id like to upgrade backup PG so hes gone.

Possible FA signings: Duhon, Lue, Jarvis Hayes, Matt Barnes, Michael Pietrius, Diop, Kurt Thomas,

Basically agreed. However, an alternative is that he takes another one year contract at a 20% raise or whatever, with a player option for another year (i.e., a big insurance policy), and then signs a year after that under the Early Bird exception for MLEish money.

If the Cs actually are using their MLE on something else important, he might accept that.

If not, he'll demand and get it for himself.

On consequence I hadn't focused on -- if Posey gets the MLE, the Cs can pay House substantially more than they can pay another vet FA guard. (Or is the LLE a lot higher than I think it is?) So he might actually be the best player they can afford.

That's IF Posey grabs the MLE for himself.

No chance that Boston gives Posey the full MLE for next season. I love Posey and would love to see him get a contract that keeps him here for the rest of his career but the C's aren't going to pay 10-11 mil for him after taxes next year. Beyond that he had better numbers in Miami a year ago when the only offer he got from a contender was from Boston. He got twice as much money as Grant Hill got from PHX. If Posey opts out he is likely gone.

These playoffs are cementing the obvious that we are too small and too slow up front. This team will have to do whatever it takes to get a couple of mid-twenties long big men (not wide big men) to come off the bench. To do this every non-started under contract should be tradeable.
Pruitt stays
Powe and Davis both expire in one year so someone is gone.
Posey is a necessity.
The rest don't matter.
