Adding a shooter as deadly as Allen could work alongside AI and Camby...let's see what the trade board thinks.
As for Boston this would solve the backup big issue as well with Perk filling in that role. I see Smith as being a nice backup wing with the potential for greater things. His shooting has improved though.
The Bulls deal would be Hughes + Gooden + 9th pick or something resembling that...perhaps Noch + Hughes for Allen.
The Noch version makes a lot more sense. The Bulls have enough small forwards and would rather deal Noch away. They also have enough rooks as previously mentioned. The only thought to this is if there really is someone special there at 9.
The whole notion of seeing in past drafts who was there and who wasn't is pretty nonsensical. It all depends on that year's draft. This particular draft is supposedly a deep one. The C's could get some nice potential players with the pick. It depends on if they want a potential wing or big...they should be able to choose between Batum, Love, Arthur and other likely candidates who could be there at 9.
That Denver deal looks sick. Thats the reason I started this thread to get some good ideas out there because I couldn't really think of any but I didn't think of the sign and trade route. I think this deal is a steal for Boston. JR Smith has big time potential and averages 12 ppg already in like 22 to 25 mins of play a night. He is only 22 yrs old and has huge potential. I think he will avg 20 a game in the future and he can go off for 30 something any night. Camby would be the perfect big man for our team. Camby can shoot the midrange jumper and thats what we need our center to do so people can't double team the ball on pick and rolls (like they do now with Perkins). Camby is also a great help side defender and a pretty good low post defender as well to go along with being an excellent offensive rebounder.
Odds of the Deal: I really can't make any odds on this deal right now. I don't know what direction Denver is headed in. I don't know how much Denver likes Smith but he should take over for Iverson in a yr or so because hes aging and will be done in a few yrs. For some reason I can't see the Nuggets giving up Camby. He is signed to a reasonable contract for the next 2 yrs and I think they would try to get us to take on Nene or Martin. Even if they made us take one of them I would have to think about it because Smith is already better then Allen next yr. Smith would just need to fit in and play defense which are his two question marks.
That Chicago deal I wouldn't do. Hughes and Gooden is crap for Ray Allen. The #9 pick is a nice piece but doesn't get us to a title in the next couple of yrs which is the goal here. ParticleMan mentioned Gordon for Ray Allen in a sign and trade which is interesting. Gooden would have to be added for salary reasons. I would have to see what kind of contract Gordon wants but that is a pretty good idea as well. Gordon can create his own shot, is a clutch shooter, and is still young at 25 yrs old. He is undersized and I don't think he plays good defense but in our system he will become sufficient.
Odds of the Deal: I can't see Chicago doing this because they should be rebuilding with young pieces like Gordon and not bringing in vets like Allen. They are nowhere near contending and they should be trying to trade hughes this summer for an expiring next yr. The core of that team for the future should be Hinrich-Gordon-Deng-Thomas-Noah with that #9 pick factoring in the mix as well. Kevin Love would look really good there as they have zero interior scooring and hes the best interior scorer outside of Beasley and Brook Lopez in the draft.
The Kirilenko and Brewer deal for Ray Allen I don't think Utah would do that. They already lack a perimeter stopper as everyone has seen in the Lakers series with Kobe tearing them up. If they did this deal they would be trading 2 of their better defenders for a guy who is just a jump shooter at this point. Utah also already plays bad defense. This trade just makes them worse in my opinion. Ray Allen would be the #4 option there too so he wouldnt be scoring a lot either to offset all the lost depth and perimeter defense.
Any other trade ideas?
