Michael Beasley Podcast

I'm a Bulls fan (if you didn't know) and run a Bulls podcast called the Bulls Beat. I normally wouldn'tt try and push a Bulls podcast on you Heat fans (why would you possibly care?), however, I'm doing a full podcast on Michael Beasley and one on Derrick Rose. Given that you'll also get one of these players (most likely) I thought you might be interested.

#42 is about 5 minutes of Bulls talk at the beginning and then 35 minutes of in depth scouting on Michael Beasley. I watched every offensive possession that he took in college to create this podcast, and I answer a lot of questions and give you a really in depth view of my take on Beasley the player. Michael Beasley is who we thought he was. He and Wade in the Pick-n-Roll will be deadly. Spoelstra will help improve his defense. He will be a monster on the boards. We can get a defensive center to make up for his liabilities.

I think Beasley is a much better fit for the Heat than Rose IMO, but I'm not done with my scouting for Rose yet.

I'm not sure who I want for the Bulls yet, but if I were a Heat fan, I would definitely take Beasley. Rose is unselfish, but he's not a great off the ball player nor is he a good shooter. He's great attacking the basket with the ball, but you've already got Wade for that. They seem like they'd be more redundant than complementary. Granted, they will be 2 great players and having 2 outstanding perimeter threats will mean one will have to be guarded by a weaker defender, but even so.

I just think Beasley diversifies your offensive attack so much better.

Thanks... good listen for those still obsessed with only getting Derrick Rose. And I agree Wade and Rose game are similar and with both of them needing the ball to be a playmaker it would limit at least one of their games. I am getting really excited for the Wade/Beasley combo.

yea i agree...most people seem to have this vision of Rose and Wade throwing alley oops to each other and getting 50 fastbreak points a game ..i agree theres a lot of redundancy..youll probably see a lot of drive and kicks, drive and kick, drive and kick again, throw up a shot with shot clock expiring with Rose/Wade/Marion together.

My concern with Beasley is his height without shoes. Is he really 6'9" or 6"7"???

Maybe Jonathan G will come here to give us an idea about Rose and Beasley.

he was measured 6-9 with shoes a year ago which is good enough for a PF...unless he shrunk i dont think its an issue.

Former Kansas State forward Michael Beasley, who appears to be a lock to be gone in the first two selections of the NBA draft, was calm and in a joking mood at the last day of the league's pre-draft camp in Orlando, the Associated Press is reporting.

Beasley went through some shooting and other on-court drills alongside O.J. Mayo, Eric Gordon, and DeAndre Jordan.

With Heat President Pat Riley and members of his staff sitting in the first row of the seats above the court where Beasley worked out Friday afternoon, the forward couldn't have seemed more relaxed. He chatted with Kevin Love while stretching, made small talk with Gordon during shooting drills, and typically seemed to be smiling at either someone or something the entire time he was on the floor.

one of the papers made the point that the Heat has been struggling with the immaturity of Cook & Wright, and Beasley might be too immature for the Heat to absorb as well. I think talent drubs that. I can't really blame Beasley, he is 19 for crying out loud, asking a 19 year old to act like a 30 year old is hard, or expecting him to know how to do it. Some people like Rose & Mayo have it, for whatever reason, upbringing, probably, or maybe being in the spotlight longer, since they were younger... it's a legit concern but I feel bad for Beasley, who is 19, that is so young to expect maturity and professionalism from. I don't think he comes off as "bad" immature, but more "goofy" and "happy go lucky".

I could only imagine the furor if Riley straight bypasses him at 2 and takes Mayo without major comensation coming back.

Join a long, long list of people who've thought that. It was a running joke on the bulls forum for awhile where people would call me doughnuts and then half the people didn't realize it was a joke because they thought that was my name.

I think it'd be a big mistake to pass on Beasley, and it seems more and more likely to me that the Bulls are going to take Rose.

However, if you don't want Beasley you could probably get Elton Brand + something else good from the Clippers for #2 + filler contracts. If not, I'd look for whatever all-star caliber vet big man you could get.

I'd definitely do that before trading down to get Mayo (or anyone else). I did extensive scouting on all the players in the 3-15 range as well when I thought the Bulls would draft 9th and there was a wide array of opinions on who'd go #3. There is a massive drop off in talent between Beasley and any other prospect in this draft after the top 2.

Beasley is going to have a better year than Derrick Rose next year IMO. I'm not the "etch it stone" type where I guarantee things that obviously no one can tell for sure, but Derrick Rose has a lot of things about him that scream "project" to me. He's got the combination o size/athleticism to be an elite PG, but his offense isn't pro-style at all. He doesn't create for other players much, and he has other flaws in his game that will take considerable time to correct.

I think it will take 3 years at a minimum before Rose has a chance to be considered the better player.

I think if Riley got offered Brand for #2 and our salary cap filler he'd jump all over it. THAT'S how you make a giant leap in the standings immediately... Brand, Marion, Wade? sick. Trade Haslem for a shooter SF (Pono-ish?) or PG (Ford?), draft a Kevin Love, Eric Gordon, Randolph, Augustine, or Mayo (if he's there) at 7
