I guess I'm one of the few Heat fans that prefers Rose to Beasley in the draft. With Haslem and Marion, PF is our deepest position. Marion is also perhaps our most attractive trade piece. But even then, Haslem is a good value and a solid role player at his position.
IMO, You don't need a start guard and a star big man... you just need stars. There's examples of all kinds of championship lineups from the past few decades. The Celtics won with loaded 3-5 positions and average backcourts. The Pistons won titles with their backcourt and overall team defense. The Bulls won several titles with the best SG anf SF in the league. The Spurs won with twin towers and an average backcourt and then later won titles with a very good backcourt and one star big. The Heat won with a star guard and a HOF declining center. The Pistons won with solid players and balance. You can take examples of all sorts of different lineups that won titles but there isn't really a key formula.
It helps to have balance but ultimately stars, chemistry and players that perform at their best in the postseason is what matters. I believe that both Beasley and Rose will be awesome pro players. But I have a feeling that Rose will be a better defender at his position and in the long run, may be the better pro. I think he fits the team better in the short term, and if he pans out to be the better pro (which is just my gut instinct) then obviously the better long term solution as well. Either way, both of these players should at least become borderline All-Star to All-Star quality players and we're fortunate to be able to land one of them.

Of course, it's part of the game. Regardless of who Paxson has decided on (if he has), he's going to come out and deny it. All GMs in every sport do that type of thing. I would think that the Bulls brass is probably 99% decided on who they want at this point. But no matter, they will still say and act as if they haven't the clue as to what their plans are. All GMs follow that mold.

The spin machine is out in full force. No mater what either Beasley or Rose will fall to us so its a no lose situation. Personally Beasley just makes so much more sense but Rose isnt bad either. While pf in paper maybe our deepest position it is also one of our weakest. I love UD but without Shaq next to him or another Dominating center hes not a starter. Marion at 6'6 should in no way be a pf but we dont know if he can still play as a sf either.

Miami writers are a little more anxious to get the inside scoop, considering the Bulls decision directly affects the Heat. The Bulls writers can sit back and wait, knowing its ultimately the organization's decision who is added to the team. Plus, I'm sure Chicago writers don't want to potentially sabotage the Bulls' plans by divulging inside scoops on their negotiations.
Just my two cents.

What are you talking about? Writers are writers. They have to sell papers. How many stories have come out of Chicago about Wade, Lebron and Kobe going to the Bulls. It's just the way it is.

Rose: "I hope Joey is right." Huh? (stolen from..)
Stolen thread from the Bulls.
was watching ESPNEWS and D-Rose said to Andy Katz that pretty much that Dorsey is just a whacko and will say whatever he wants. Then Katz asked him about Chicago and Miami and he went on about how playing in Chicago will be great and Miami has some great athletes yada yada yada playing up both situations. He said both situations would be great and its a win-win. Then he said "I hope Joey is right but I would be happy either way."
I wish you guys could have all seen it but I can't tell if it was him saying it for Dorsey's sake, he genuinely wants to play for the Heat over the Bulls, or he is just that bad in an interview and it was a poorly worded sentence.
FWIW he was a terrible interview (boring, very polite though) and is not the greatest speaker. Just reporting what I saw. To others who have seen this, what was your take?
Luckily its not his choice.

My thoughts as I posted over the Bulls board:
I wouldn't make too much of it. He never said he doesn't want to play for Chicago. Maybe he has a preference for Miami for whatever reason but to him Chicago is equally as good.
The way I see it is like having the option to hit Beyonce or Jessica Biel. You wouldn't complain with either one but if you have a slight fetish with the booty then you would want Beyonce a bit more. I doubt you would see Jessica Biel as "settling" for less.

I think Rose wants to play in Miami...if he gets drafted by the Bulls hell say the right things...same with Mayo, if he gets drafted by the Twolves hell say the right things..same with Beasley.
I think all these guys would rather live in Miami, doesnt mean theyll pull a Steve Francis.....it wont make a difference in Paxson's decision.

These guys aren't used to interviewing. I remember when Wade first came into the league they'd interview him after games and he'd be all over the map, short answers, nervous, etc.
