There, he doesn;t need to have a presser now. I just summed up what he will say about the draft.

The latest trade rumor has Cleveland sending Side-Show to GS for Al Harrington. If that pull that off, they mos-def will go big with their first pick....probably whoever we don't pick - Hibbert or Speights?
I hope the Cavs don't get Hibbert.

Yeah that would suck to have a hometown product play for the evil empire.

^ If Cleveland went that route I'd expect them to make Ben their backup C, thus no need for Hibbert. Harrington would play PF and they'd probably go for a guard like Lee or Chalmers.

So who's covering the presser? I assume it's not Ivan.
Help us, Obi-wan Leonsis. You're our only hope.

I'm at work, did Ernie say anything meaningful?

The draft is deep this year.

Nothing much.

He predictably kept his cards close to his chest.
He talked a little about Hibbs saying they really
didn't need for him to come in. They've seen him,
they know him yada yada.

He said BPA a couple/few times.

Said Etan should be 100% this year.

He said "best player available" about eight times.

A couple things that Ernie said that caught my ear were:

1) His theory is BPA.
2) He doesn't think the workouts mean that much.

Enlarging on the second point, EG said that workouts for him are mostly to get to know the player. He wants to sit down and talk to the kid and see how he responds. The thing is - I don't know if that means he's more or less likely to pick somebody he didn't get to talk to during a scheduled workout. Interesting.

Today's workouts courtesy of the official blog:

Donte Greene - Syracuse
Will Daniels - Rhode Island
Will Thomas - George Mason

Thomas has reportedly inked a deal to play in Belgium, FYI.

It's not just his theory - he flat-out said that, if we keep the pick, we're taking BPA.

A couple things unrelated to the draft.
EG didn't mention VV playing summer league. Does he not count as a roster player since he isn't signed or is it assumed he just won't make it over this summer?
Also, the way he responded to the Boston question surely gave me the impression that we had no shot at KG last year.

I say we can afford a project player at 18 (Greene, McGee, AJinca, etc.)
Say we draft Green, there is a couple things we could do:
1. We can stick him on the end of our bench for a year or two and see how he develops because with our roster set, he does not have to come in and contribute.
2. Put him in the D-League. Give him major minutes and could help him develop faster to contribute in the NBA.

That could be for any project not just Greene.

Ernie was stating that you can only have four current roster players on your summer league team.

If VV was to play, he'd be eligble since he technically isn't on our current roster.

By the way, Spiritualized rules (noticed your av).

I meant his approach to the draft overall is BPA, which would of course include his plans for the #18.

Bullets Forever echo my thoughts on the following perfectly:

We aren't going Euro: This was probably the part that made me feel best. Someone asked him about drafting a European, and while Ernie said he wouldn't rule it out, he answered the question mostly by listing the dangers of buyout clauses and the like. It seems he was shaken by the Navarro situation, and wants to avoid that happening again. That makes me happy, because we've used the Euro-and-stash strategy way too much recently (Veremeeko, Navarro, Pech, etc).

More insight on Ernie's presser at BF:

Just got through watching Jon Givony on nbatv. Says the underrated guy in this draft is Hendrix. He listed the undersized PFs of the past few seasons who've come in as suprises.

He has seen the light!

I remember emailing him and Joe T over at DX, explaining the same thing about Millsap when neither felt that he'd be anything special.

Jon G's expanded his site in a terrific way and he's also learned that the size of a player's heart matters sometimes much more than the size on tape.

Arthur, if he ends up being the pick, is nowhere near as good Hendrx. Same with Speights. Same with Alexander.
Tre Johnson is the future of the Wizards.
