So the ability to get rid of Blounts contract is enough to trade Beasley for a much lesser player? (and won't even be getting Mayo) Don't think so.

Re: Live Draft Lottery Talk; Beasley working out Wed/Thr (pg 45)
I can't take this anymore, all these trade rumors and speculation. I hope Riley doesn't mess this up and just takes Beasley. I keep on seeing these BS trade rumors with us trading down and only receiving players like Chris Wilcox or Mike Miller. I'm also hearing reporters like Chris Broussard say the Heat really don't want to take Beasley and we will trade him if Rose isn't there at 2. For me, the draft can't come soon enough. Normally I love this time of year but in a way my happiness (sports wise at least) for the next 2-3 years are riding on Thursday. I either want Beasley/Rose or I want to trade the pick for an ALL-STAR, not a Wilcox or Miller type player.
On a side note, if we select Beasley how long do we have to wait until we know for sure that we are going to keep him? The 5th pick? The 7th pick? Or won't we know until even AFTER the draft?

I'm the same way. When I hear names like Chris Wilcox and Mike Miller I don't understand what all the fuss is about. They are good players but they aren't that great.

Andy Katz Mock Draft (One of the better reporters for ESPN, especially for the NBA Draft):
"2. Miami -- Michael Beasley, Fr., Kansas State: There is always a chance the Heat package this pick. But according to a number of sources within the league, the Heat probably won't pass on Beasley as an asset, at the very least. Putting Beasley next to Dwyane Wade and Shawn Marion is a potent offensive machine for new coach Erik Spoelstra."
Good news.
I still would like to know how long we have to wait until we know the Beasley selection is safe.

At least till Friday. If Beasley is still on the team on Friday, it would be safe to say that he is staying. But on draft night be scared. Come on Riley, Just come out and tell the world that Beasley is the pick.

Re: Live Draft Lottery Talk; Beasley working out Wed/Thr (pg 45)
OK, well I just got done listening to Chad Ford and David Thorpe's podcast. I didn't agree with much that they said but it got me thinking about a few things...
1) The Melo Comparison: Carmelo is an amazingly talented player, that isn't the problem, his problem is in the head. People are quick to compare Beasley to him mentally, which is such bull. How is Beasley anything like Carmelo characteristic wise? His problem is he seems disinterested, he doesn't seem to have the heart or the passion to maximize his talent. I fail to see how there is any of that in Beasley, his only problem is immaturity. Thorpe compared Melo's lack of interest in the series against the Lakers compared to Paul Pierces throughout the playoffs, mainly the jump ball in game 7 with LeBron James. If anything, I see Beasley ending up like the Paul Pierce. When I watch this kid play I never ever see or sense a lack of passion or interest in the game. What I do see is him diving for lose balls, and shouting with insane intensity after key plays in games. Go ahead and call B-easy immature, but don't insult him and compare his charter to that of Carmelo Anthony, who has less heart then a freaking mouse.

If Riley trades this pick and gives away a potential long term all star that could be the cornerstone of this franshise for the next 12 years just so we can win in the next two years, it will be the biggest failure of his career. His goal should be to keep this pick, and trade marion and other assets to get another loto pick to then have a young talented nucleus to compete for the next decade. I dont want another Shaq short term fix and the pain that follows when the star is too old.

I kind of like Ford's supposed deal of Conley and #5 for Cook and #2....that's two top 5 picks, for a pick on a guy Riley apparently isn't infatuated with and a #24 pick.
Then, whenever Oden enters free agency, we can have an old buddy of his to swoon him. Not bad.

i only consider conley/5 for coko/2 IF mem still does the miller for blount swap
conley, miller, 5 for cook, blount, 2 or NO DEAL and I just take MICHAEL BEASLEY and KEEP him

and if LAC is willing to trade brand then im open to trading # 2 in a package...Miami should only deal w/ MEM or LAC or just keep the pick

I agree with miamiballer, those are the only teams I would trade with as well.
Has anyone discussed the possibility of moving down twice? Ford originally reported that LAC was targeting Mayo and trying to trade up. Could we possibly trade back with MEM, and then again with LAC? Is there any way we pull this off:
Trade 1: Blount, Cook, #2 for Conley, Miller, #5
Trade 2: #5, Marion for Brand, #7
Conley/Banks
Wade/Miller
Miller/Wright
Brand/Haslem
Zo/Lopez (#7)

Re: Live Draft Lottery Talk; Beasley working out Wed/Thr (pg 45)
i do that SJ2100 but i dont think LAC does the 2nd...
HOWEVER if sea passes on bayless at 4 and he is there at 5 LAC COULD be tempted to leapfrog NY to get bayless for themselves
Riley: ok elgin, your guy is here at 5 and we offer the pick w/ marion for brand, # 7 (Lopez)
Baylor: Brand? GO screw yourself riles, you con artist you
Riley: hahaha, yes I am quite good arent I
Baylor: shut up
Riley: You like that move didnt you
Baylor: shut up
Riley: ok so how about that deal?
Baylor: tempting but well have to pass
Riley: ok Elgin congrts on your pick...well just take our guy at 5, NY at 6 and well take away brand next yr when marion expires, have a nice day (click)

I would even make that 2nd deal without getting the 7th pick. If LAC drops back to #15 while picking up Barbosa, I would accept Brand and #15 for Marion and #5.

Unbelievable.
They are reshowing it every couple of hours, it's 2 hours long.

Earlier today on espn, They talked about a rumor. Miami Trades, 2# Beasley,Blount for Wilcox,4#. Then the heat would trade 4#,Marion,Filler for Brand,Magette. Then they said that the suns are hot for Magette and that could break everything. But lets say its all true, Would you be happy?

PF-Brand-Haslem
SF-Magette-Dorell

Are you happy? also what if miami could restart the Haslem for Hinrich trade. Say Haslem,Cook for Hinrich.

I want beasley. He has superstar potential. This is a superstars league. We have capspace to sign Brand next off-season, no reason to give up a potential superstar when we can wait a year.

Re: Live Draft Lottery Talk; Beasley working out Wed/Thr (pg 45)
The Heat will draft Beasley if he is there. He gets traded if they can get Mayo and another first round pick. They would draft a young big man that can rebound, defend, and finish off of Wade and Mayo assists. Who drafts Mayo is the key for Draft night. They will also trade Beasley, if the Heat can get two good veterans that fit the plan of 2010 .
Go Heat!!!
Go Heat!!!
