Got two questions answered by Thorpe so far today, here they are:

Scott (Miami): If the Heat draft Beasley, which of their forwards should they deal off, Marion or Haslem?

David Thorpe: (12:34 PM ET ) Maybe both

I was hoping he would have given me a little insight as to whether a Beasley/Haslem frontcourt would work, but he didn't. So then, later on, I asked this one:

Scott (Miami): Can Beasley play SF full time?

David Thorpe: (12:58 PM ET ) I don't think so, yet anyway.

Not sure what all this means, but I guess he feels as though Beasley is a 4 with the ability to play the 3 based on some improvements. Maybe we should hold onto Haslem and see how Beasley progresses in Year 1?

Ric Bucher (take it for what its worth) was just on ESPN Draft special.

He said the Heat are still looking into deal with Wade. (When will this end)

Said that the Heat are exploring all possibilites, including trading Marion to the Raptors, Sixers and Warriors.

He also said that Memphis has called Miami regarding Haslem.

The second that ihear some1 say the heat is looking to trading D-Wade, I stop watching or listening. Anybody who considers themself a expert would not waste there time talking about that. Wade is not going to get traded. If wade is traded for anyone not named Howard,James or Paul i would be angry. To the point that i would probley drop my Season tickets. That would be a stap in the face to all the fans of miami. You build around superstars not trade them. Also, Riley is not that stupid ,he knows that.

Damn, not bad .... Bayless-Wade-Marion-Beasley-MLE. And still a ton of cap space next year.

Memphis is looking to deal #5 for David Lee. So if they have indeed called about Haslem too, it's obvious they're looking for a role-playing PF to play alongside Marc Gasol. I think they'd want a little more though, perhaps Cook?

looking deeper into what offers we could recieve from GState, Philly or Toronto for Marion

GState has a $10 million dollar trade exception that expires right after the draft, they could pair that with Al Harrington and #14 for Marion and Banks.

Philly could only get a deal done if they included Dalembert AND Miller, that isnt happening and the rest of their roster doesnt interest Miami.

Toronto can offer TJ Ford, Rasho Nesterovic and #17 pick for Marion.

only the GState deal sparks any interest IMO.......

Unfortunately, I don't think you can package a trade exception. And $10 million isn't enough to fit Marion's $17 mill into by itself.

Right on. They'll have some cap room to make a deal happen, but not until July 1.

Ugh.

Agreed. They have some nice pieces, but unfortunately the trade exception cannot be packaged.

I'd be shocked if Haslem could fetch #5. Granted, this is Memphis we're talking about here. But still.

just realized the TE cannot be combined with a player so 86 that GState deal......

I think it might be best to just let Marion walk after this upcoming season then make any moves that bring on any further salary (unless we are getting Boozer or Brand without giving up #2)

If the Grizzlies would trade the fifth pick for Haslem then A, they are crazy, and B, we'd be in control of the draft for a lot of teams. That would be amazing. Was there a link or suggestion of this somewhere?

Someone tell me this is a joke......

* The Miami Heat have found a taker in their quest to trade the No. 2 draft pick, a source familiar with the situation told Pro Basketball News. The source did not indicate which team would be the Heat’s trading partner, or what other draft picks or players are involved.

* The supposed deal will reportedly be announced during or shortly after the draft. According to the source, the Heat will select USC guard O.J. Mayo and trade him. Kansas State forward Michael Beasley is expected to fall to No. 3 -- although not to Minnesota, which is expected to trade down.

* Reports say the Timberwolves are aiming to use their third overall selection to land a veteran, or at the very least, trade down and select West Virginia forward Joe Alexander. Expect Milwaukee to get involved in these talks (if it isn’t already). The Bucks are also very high on Alexander and are considering selecing him at No. 8. That is, of course, unless the Wolves get to him first.

* New York is one team rumored to be involved in the sweepstakes for the No. 2 pick, with the Knicks reportedly hoping to land Mayo. If that’s the case, the Heat would like receive either Stephon Marbury or Jamal Crawford in return, as well as the Knicks’ No. 6 pick. As has been reported by the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Knicks could also end up with Shawn Marion.

I had never heard of it until I saw it on the Minnesota board, thats where I found it. I really don't like this at all.

Lets just take out Marion and add Wade to make this even more ridiculous.
