Take these into account:
-Wade is turning 27 this season, the same age Michael Jordan won the first of his 6 NBA titles.
-Derrick Rose and Michael Beasley are both going to be superstars. But for Rose it will take a few years, especially considering he can't shoot. And Beasley will need to grow into a position, either SF or PF. His defense is also very suspect.
-But other teams want these guys badly. Even more badly than the Heat do. Wade and Rose in the backcourt would have a good chance of not working, since they are both essentially ball hogs that can't shoot very well. Beasley would be a monster on offense, but his defense and playing out of position (potentially for his whole career) is a pretty big drawback.
-And don't forget about who is in charge- Pat Riley. Remember what he said after the Shaq-Marion trade? He said he wanted to rebuild extremely quickly---quicker than last time.
Between Marion and the 2nd pick, Miami could potentially rebuild this summer. Right now. And start competing next season. That's an All Star and a future superstar we are trading. In exchange we should get a LOT. Pat Riley will make sure we get what we deserve. I am excited. A bit nervous. But excited. You should be too. Trust Riley.
And for the record, I think and have thought since I first started paying attention to the draft that despite all the hype about Rose and how much Wade loves Mayo, Jerryd Bayless and Wade would be a LETHAL combo in the backcourt. Their skills complement each other perfectly. Bayless can shoot lights out and would be ideal for Miami. So when it's all said and done, I hope we end up with the 4th or 5th pick to take this guy. Blount, Banks and the 2 to Memphis, Marion, Cook and the 5 o LAC, Miller and Brand and the 7 (Bayless) to Miami. Resign Zo. Split MLE between a backup C and a backup PG.
Bayless - FA
Wade
Miller - Wright
Haslem
Brand - Mourning - FA
GREAT success.
