I've been following Yi since the 2006 World Championships, I posted at times in both the NBA draft and Milwaukee Bucks forum when it came to Yi. Obviously right now, it must be tough getting rid of a solid starter such as Richard Jefferson but since it's now clear NJ wants to rebuild and perhaps put themselves in position for 2010...it's all about patience and waiting to see what happens. With that said, I'll be patient and want to watch Yi progress in the NBA. Hopefully one day he can live up to his hype, but for now I am looking for to see what a squad of Devin Harris, Yi, S.Williams, Lopez, etc can do.

Bucks want a win-now team even if that has a low ceiling on it.

As you've now inheirited our boards Chinese posters (who are all great guys) you can start the debates about Yi's real age. If many of us truly believed that Yi was only 20 years old, I think we'd be more upset about this deal. I think the guy will turn 24 in October....

I've been a pretty big fan of his for a couple of years now and have watched most of his games in international competition and in the NBA. What I can tell you is that he WILL be a solid contributor in this league. He's a legit seven footer with exceptional length and athleticism, and a high basketball IQ and developing skillset to boot. Last year wasn't representative of him as a player for various reasons - exhaustion from playing for a year without a rest, selfish play on the part of the Bucks guards, and just him trying to adapt to a higher level of competition than he was accustomed to.

Great trade for both teams, in my mind.

Yeah mo williams and M redd are the biggest ballhogs ever, They're extremely selfish guards worried about their own stats.. Yi will be solid for the Nets offensively ... especially with devin Harris. A very unselfish guard.

this is a good trade for the nets cause RJ is just an overpaid second fiddle type of player. He's paid 13-15 mill a year. In Nets he was behind Vince and he'll be 2nd or third fiddle at Milwaukee behind Redd and Mo will.

Carter is going to have a huge season next year as far as scoring is concerned.

Another Bucks fan here. While you hear a lot of stuff like 'team who gets best player wins trade' I reckon this is pretty win-win. The only concerns we had were:
1) Yi's age
2) His motivation
3) His durability.

The 2nd point pertains to the whole 'Yi's handlers holding out for a trade' thing - and there was much debate as to whether it was Yi/his handlers who were the driving force behind apparently seeking a trade.

The 3rd point is in respect to the huge amount of ball Yi plays for the Chinese national team, which has been huge heading towards the Olympics this year. I unfortunately was expecting him to miss a fair amount of ball next season.

All this said, I believe he is a good pick-up for you guys. He has potential, but we just don't know how much! With you guys, I'd think he'd get plenty of minutes so he'll be happy, he's in a larger market and I expect he'll play a lot in 09-10 which will greatly interest LBJ. He's really going to be interested in playing for you guys I think.

As for having a go at Thorn, I'm fairly sure we would've been selling CV hard so to come away with Yi was a good effort as he should be the better player.

Simmons is a good player who can do a bit of everything. He also possessed the rare ability to take a lot of money from our team, not play a lot and still generally be liked!

Also, treat our Chinese fans well - they want the best for their team and what they write is often very funny!

Yi runs on the fast break better than any foward in the nba besides Lebron. It was just that Mo wouldn't pass to him in the bucks. I hope ya'll become more up tempo, while focusing on defense. You guys have a great coach and a very promising young pg. I'll be watching nets from now on. Plz make it more entertaining than the bucks....

dude if Yi runs the floor, he and Harris will do just fine here.

Hopefully Yi comes in ready to improve upon that 8ppg 5rpg average from last year

If we can get at least 12ppg and 8rpg from Yi with more PT and a significant role here on the Nets, i will be very very pleased with Mr. Yi. I already know the guy can step up and hit the midrange J and honestly he is more skilled than any other forward we had on the team. I am willing to give Yi a chance.

Plus, now there will be more asian women at the games, which is great :D

I guess it will be a few days before the players speak up about the trade. I'm interested in what Vince & RJ have to say.

Thorn said he called & texted RJ about the trade but received no reply.

Also, like I said on the general board it may be a tough adjustment for RJ from being with an unselfish backcourt of Kidd/Carter and now going to a more shoot first backcourt of Mo/Redd. I would hate to see RJ to get left out like Bogut.

Not trying to trash talk, and I know Mo isn't pass first.

But, Yi has a lot of trouble finishing in traffic. He has trouble holding onto the ball in transition opportunities. His upper body strength is his biggest weakness and there were plenty of concerns from our side that his offseasons (specifically this one) do not give him the time and rest to hit the weight room and work on his game.

Once the scouting report was out on Yi, they were constantly throw a blind side defender at him to strip the ball. He was (no offense) probably the worst PF in the league during the middle of the season leading up to his benching for CV.

Yi still has a very bright future and I like him as a player. But I don't love him. And he will take 2-3 years to be a player. Bucks might regret this one in 3-4 years, who knows. Good luck to him and good luck to the Nets.

Yi will blossom in NJ cuz there will be no one holding him down (Redd,Mo won't let him have the ball). there was one time that Redd froze him out so that he won't get his 30pts that night.

If Yi works hard Frank will give him every opportunity to prove himself, with Jefferson gone and Carter really more of a playmaker than a scorer at this point in his career the shots will be there.

Well getting shots on the Nets really isn't going to be a problem . Don't see any shoot first players one it . Well it's going to be interesting.
