Played every game (few in the nba did that last year) and averaged more PPG than Odom with comparable minutes. Under our new coach, every(well at least some) players that were previously disliked should get a new opportunity.

Seek sign-and-trade deals to see what's out there.

If no takers, bring him back on a 1-year deal. That would make him an expiring contract, a very valuable chip at the deadline when the perennial "disgrunted all-star who wants to be traded" is put on the block. Or, maybe he actually fits this year under a different coach, system, and role. Worth a try - I hate losing assets for nothing.

He didn't whine/moan/groan or complain about anything, granted the season we just had, it would've made sense if he would, but he didn't.

If we can sign him to a decent deal, or s&t him, I'm all for it.

Exactly. And like I said, he adds more depth at the SG position. He didn't get into any trouble (i.e Smush) so I don't see the problem with resigning.

Everyone knows Riley set up the whole incident with his Mafia connections

If he's willing to take a 1 year deal and a spot on the bench, why not? Wade and Marion will play 35-38 minutes a piece, why not give the other 25 to Davis? We'd actually have terrific depth at 2, 3, and 4; Just nothing at 1 and 5.

Ricky Davis at SF was a failure. Maybe I could see him as a Sg backup, even at that I have reluctance to Davis, I rather start fresh this season. Hope Riley doesn't go and keeps signing the failures of last season.

Is there anyway we can get Posey back?

He can play SF for 10 minutes a game, we have a bigger holes to worry about then Davis playing 10 minutes at SF.

Considering you are going to have injuries, I think its just setting yourself for failure.

A guy gets hurt for a couple games, lets say we are fighting it out, for the last playoff spot. A 10 game injury in that position. Not having the adequate backup that can actually fulfill the position, will cost you the season.

The one positive, is we might get as lucky as the Bulls with the slimest of odds, and have another high draft pick. But I rather have a good season, than hit lottery again. That's just me.

We don't even have solid starters at C and PG, who backs up 36-40 minute players in Wade and Marion should be the least of our worries. Of course we're going to have injuries, but there isn't anyone we could sign who could offer the production Marion and Wade bring for when those injuries hit. We could do a hell of a lot worse than Ricky Davis, plus if we sign him it does not cost us our MLE.

Since there is a high possibility the Heat will use the MLE for either a PG or center, there is no more means to use to sign a free agent swing man that can shoot aside from the LLE and for the minimum. I doubt Miami can sign a good FA for cheap money. Then why not just sign Ricky for a season?

Ricky played for all of 82 games last year and he did not quit and ask to sit out the season.

Sign and trade is a good option but I think the there are only few teams might want his services. The Rockets, Bucks and Nets might have some interest in him. The Rockets wants a scorer to help TMac, and so does the Nets after they lost Jefferson in the trade. The Bucks need depth a the perimeter.

The Rockets has B-Jax to trade and adds to Heat PG depth, and the Nets has a center in Swift to offer if they want Ricky.
