How much is Melo worth?

Post#1 » by adarsh1 » Wed Jul 16, 2008 2:49 pm

I am just wondering, with the Nuggets trading Camby to get Cap Relief, and there could be a possible firesale in Denver. How much is Melo worth? Is he a franchise player or is he a star, who's not a superstar or is he a very good second star ala Scottie Pippen?

I'd trade Gordon and Deng, or Hinrich and Deng or just trade Rose and Hughes for him.

He's a gifted scorer, but plays absolutely no defense. I think his value is high because he's still young and can improve and is already averaging 28 points and 6 boards.

Probably a lot more than he'll fetch on the trade market...

I think he is a franchise player, that he is worth the maximum salary and that is easily within the top 10 players in the game. With him, he also has tremendous upside.

Top 7 franchise player for any team looking to not contend right now, top 15 NBA material.

So I'd say he has a very, very large value. Should be considered untouchable if DEN didn't go for the win now mode ealier.

I think the question should be How much is Iverson worth? Denver is going to rebuild around Melo. ;)

Trade value: At least one all-star, cap relief, and a 1st rounder

I think he's untouchable in Denver. Unless someone offered a star up for him. I think Denver will trade AI first.

Max contract, no doubt. FRANCHISE player. Similar to Drexeler compared to Jordan in terms of retrospect. Jordan Being Lebron/Kobe/Sasha.

He shouldn't be traded, what the Nuggets should have done already is move AI.

I think Denver would deal AI before they dealt Melo. Anthony is a young franchise-type player, he holds the long-term value with the Nuggets, not AI.
