Yeah, well, we'll just have to wait and see how this pans out. If he'd have gone anywhere else people wouldn't be talking about the money as much but since he went to the Hornets, some people seem to have a problem. You'd swear the Hornets just handed over Rashard Lewis type money to Posey. You said he will help the Hornets, well, that's what they're looking for. I don't see why some Celtics fans seem a little bitter about this.

You can't honestly believe that crap, can you? If anything it would be the exact opposite. There is tons of pro-NO sentiment as a result of Katrina and the fallout from it, and many people have them as their 2nd favorite team just because they are rooting for the city.

Add to it the fact that you have one of the 3 or 4 most exciting young players in the league leading an unprecedented Juvenation of the team, and an entertaining nucleas of players....where exactly is the bias. That's just abject, unadulterated stupidity to claim something like that...

As for your earlier comments, I hate to have to tell you, but at some point in time your little protected world is going to have the truth thrust upon it. Its the great thing about sports: it always tells you what you are. If this is a bad move, you won't be able to deny it when its all said and done. If its a good move, I won't be able to say otherwise either. I just feel like I should get in and drop my $.02 right now so that later I can tell you I told you BEFORE it happened. Its the purpose of fandom and sports talk. Don't have to get uppity.

Just don't act like it came out of nowhere when you are desperately trying to unload him in June of 2010.

You guys paid too much. That said, I'll miss James. See you in the finals, hopefully. ;)

ESPN's Marc Stein:

• Look for James Posey to be formally introduced as a member of the New Orleans Hornets in the middle of next week. But don't look for me to join the chorus of concern that the Hornets overextended themselves to sign the 31-year-old to a four-year deal worth about $25 million. I love the move.

I can't deny that I was not-so-secretly expecting owner George Shinn to make his checkbook hard to find after the Hornets re-signed Chris Paul to a max contract extension earlier this month. But showing an immediate willingness to spend some more to get Posey as the lead acquisition to address their leadership and depth shortcomings suggests that Shinn isn't satisfied with one breakthrough season.

The Hornets were forever known as non-spenders. Since Paul came into their lives with the fourth overall pick in 2005, Shinn has been spending like he has some ambition, enabling general manager Jeff Bower to gradually assemble the West's new darlings. Isn't this Shinn better than his predecessor?

Yes, hindsight is 20/20, congratulations, you passed the 3rd grade....

Fact is the Hornets already have the talent needed to win a championship, the big 4 in Tyson, CP3, D West and Peja is way more front line talent than people realize, so what we needed was a guy who could come in, play a role and bring the intangibles, whether it be a hard foul, a pep talk, a big shot, a big steal, someone whos been there and done that, and Posey is the guy.

Theres really nothing wrong with the 4 year deal, he'll be 35 at the end of his deal, thats not too old to contribute.

Also don't be so convinced that Julian Wright can't play shooting guard, hes got good lateral movement and long arms, he could be surprisingly effective.

I think Posey is the right guy.

Wait wait, you think Julian can't play SG offensively, or defensively?

I would love to see Julian Wright start at the two. He's has pretty good handle and plays awesome defense. He just needs to work on his 3 point shot. Mopete is much better suited coming off the bench.

CP3
Wright
Peja
West
Chandler

with Posey and Mopete as the top reserves is sick. All the hornets need is Pargo resigned and a decent C/PF back up.

I love Posey. Love him. But this is a crazy signing. It might help in the short term--if the team plays its cards just right--but he will be to NO what Brian Cardinal is to Memphis right now within two years. Mark my words.

First off Cardinal is in Minnesota now. Second, Posey is lot better than Cardinal. The signing was a good move for the Hornets. Like the others addressed, Posey is reliable on both ends of the floor. He has two championships under his belt and he's certified in making the Hornets a better team from the frontcourt position.

It takes a lot of pressure off Peja. If he gets hurt, they have a viable replacement in Posey and can start either Mo Pete or Wright. Very solid signing. He's found his niche. He's going to be a great compliment in New Orleans.
