We can do better then devin George, I don't think he is a great defender anymore, whats up with quinton ross, he would be a good fit. Gerge is a career 39% shooter and only 34% from 3, not what we are looking, he is a team player, but we need a talented team player.

I think we should know by now that when a media outlet says so and so has garnered interest from this team, that team and another team, really means nothing. I think Ainge can do much better. Hell, I'd rather just keep who we have.

I think Hoopsworld is just making stuff up. They turned this snippet from a Dallas newspaper...

The Phoenix Suns, San Antonio Spurs, Minnesota Timberwolves, Cleveland Cavaliers and New Orleans Hornets have expressed interest in George. And the NBA champion Boston Celtics could be next in line after they lost 6-8 forward James Posey in free agency.

Posey recently signed a four-year, $25 million contract with the Hornets. Posey also happens to have the same agent – Mark Bartelstein – as George.

...into insinuating that the Celtics are close to signing George. In fact, the writer of the original article is just guessing that since the Celtics lost Posey, that George would be on their radar. George is a guy who we might be interested later in the process, but right now we are after TA, Nachbar, Barnes, etc. IMO.

Man, I don't like that Bartelstein guy. I'm sure he's good at his job, but he's really into making life hard for GMs. The screwup with the Kidd trade last year, made George seems like someone you wouldn't want on your team, even though it was his agents' doing. In the end what good will the Bird rights do him if Dallas doesn't even bother to resign the guy? Bartelstein had Giddens leave training camp, and Posey couldn't find a middle ground with Danny. I'm sure there's going to be some tension between Danny and Bartelstein at the moment, would Danny choose to deal with this guide if given a choice?

Yeah, this is probably all started by the agent....hoping to create a buzz and interest in his client.

Why would Ainge have a problem with Bartelstein?

I would rather have Tony back than Quinton Ross who is not really a legit NBA offensive player.

George is 6'8" and a legit defender at the SF spot who knows the role and can give you some physical play.

George is a very overrated jumpshooter, his build isn't much different than Scal's, and he's not much more athletic than Scal either. He has never struck me as an energy guy either. I wouldn't care to see him added to our roster.

I hope things reports are false because George is not that good. Just ask the Mavs. In his last to years, he has shot below 40% from the field. Last year he shot like 34% from the field. He is a below average shooter and an average defender these days. I pass on this guy.

It there a SF out there that can defend and shoot 3's. We still need another 3 point shooter to open up the inside. Losing Posey hurts alot in this area.

Danny said that he hasn't even spoken with Devean. His agent is just blowing smoke.

IMO both George and Ross are so terrible offensively that they are not worth the roster spot.

as a mavs fan id like the mavs to resign him, he's very versatile and can defend the 2-4 spots and from time to time he'll get hot. he should always be the 5th option on offense but i think his defense makes up for it.

he got a bad rap last year b/c of the trade, it didnt bother me b/c i wouldve rather kept him anyways. i think he'd be a decent replacement for posey

I agree, but perhaps Ainge's response is true and he hasn't spoke to George, however he has spoken to his agent. Just playing the other side. Danny can be tricky.

Hoopsworld is nothing more than an online tabloid for basketball. Anybody who works there immediately has no credibility, IMO.

I don't think this is true, but if it is, and we brought in Devean George it would be a major disappointment. I still think we need help at the SF position, but seeing Matt Barnes go to Phoenix for the minimum and instead taking George would be a mistake, even if we trust Danny on most everything.

George has posted a PER under 10 the last two seasons and is 30, whereas Barnes had a better PER than Posey last year and is only 28. Plus, when you factor in that George has averaged 56.5 games the last two seasons, this just does not help the Celtics. At this point I would take Quinton Ross (better defender) or Bonzi Wells (better scorer) over Devean George.

Not tos ure on george especially if it is for more than the minium. The celtics have there posey replacement its tony allen. I would rather not get george and go after gomes or austin croshere who are similiar players instaed ta has filled poseys spot defensively.

I kinda hope we don't sign him because I want Walker to make the team.. I can see why Danny would do it though. He could probably do an okay Posey imitation in our offense.

according to dannys interview id be surprised if we picked up george at this point. george appears to have a fork in his back anyway. not much of a factor in last years playoffs. i think id just assume stick with tony and even giddens at this point. i also want walker to make this team. i want him nearby so we can stay in control of his overall development and give him access to this core of guys so he can witness their work ethic and see what goes into being a championship team. and get a chance to learn from GPA. this is a great lockerroom to be in for a kid so lets use that as an asset, not waste it. give tony and jr at least half a season to see what they can contribute to the team. if there's a problem we can address it with our last rosterspot. if not we hold out for mourning.
