I am seeing an unprotected 2012 first rounder from Toronto being moved around left and right. I need a ruling here because Toronto cannot deal picks in back to back seasons and 2 teams cannot have both have rights to an unprotected first rounder.
We aren't using the consecutive draft pick rule, so that's fine. But the other part is interesting; if this is true, then the deal should be void and should NOT be able to be changed.

EDIT: And how can the Blazers trade that pick before they even get it? They trade the 2012 1st round pick of the Raptors BEFORE they get it in the Gibson trade! Both of those trades should be void, as the first trade can't happen as the Blazers didn't have the pick, and the second trade can't happen because the Knicks already have that pick. These trades should both be void with NO way to be able to change them as the deadline has passed.

Zong, I know you're team is amazing and what not, but please try to play by the rules.

Knicks GM, I believe bryant08 has contacted you about taking the protection off the 2011 pick

Heat GM, I admit, the added picks were added AFTER i got it because a few GMs complained that I should give some 1st rounders at the minimum from my side. However, I also edited my post AFTER the trade was done, no one got anymore or less except me who actually took out more for another team so they could receive a better package, and if anything, all 3 GMs (Boston, Toronto, Indy) were very co-operative with that deadline trade so we'll figure something out, it was just in a rush and we had no time to co-ordinate as some GMs in the deal were asleep already at 3AM EST.

If you want further clarification, feel free to email me, I just came back from Wasaga sun-burnt as hell, theres a huge red triangle at the base of my neck thanks to me falling asleep on the beach wearing a tshirt =(

Also, a tutorial for the write-up will be up soon, and just in case if anyone wants to know, I need it detailed!

I don't want to sound like an a**, but you shouldn't be allowed to change the trade after the deadline. The pick thing didn't work out, so that means both of trades should be void. You cannot change a trade that didn't go through after the deadline. A deadline is a deadline is a deadline. Period. Don't try to change the rules on us so your trade can go through.

BTW, can you just post up the thread for the writeups? I have mine all ready with all of the stuff that I believe you want.

I didnt change the trade after the deadline, I changed it around 28 minutes before the deadline, the trade involving the picks happened almost immediately after the multi-team trade

Also, the Knicks GM had contacted the Raptors GM and the protection taken off the 2011 pick, so that is doable on account of the fact that it was not a trade, but an agreement after the deadline, much like how we're still allowed to pick up players via waivers

I'm not talking about that change; I'm saying you can't fix the pick problem now.

And what kind of crap is that? Taking protection off of a pick is considered a trade, and why in the hell would a team just take protection off of a pick? That would require the Knicks to give something to the Raptors, which would be a trade.

Please zong, stop trying to bend the rules. You're team's going to win anyway lol.

And when will the writeup thread be up?

I see what you mean, its just we're on different terms about the pick problem, but if you you really want to get technical, we could just shove Indiana into the picture of the 6-team trade, and basically involve him so the picks go the right route, since it was all "before" the deadline. The rules were that all trading activity ends 3AM EST Aug 2nd, not all transactions, as far as I see it, the Toronto GM and I had a longg discussion last night prior to the deadline on how he would get his player, and we found the 3rd team like 2 minutes after the multi-team trade went down.

The Raptors taking off the protection off the pick shouldnt such a big deal because he had agreed to that deal knowing a pick would be involved anyway, and both parties go home happy.

Write-up thread should be up tomorrow before 3 PM EST, I am in the middle of just getting back from Wasaga and settling into my new apartment early tomorrow morning (hooray for civic holiday, when the highways are not jammed in the early mornings)

Whatever, I should stop arguing with you as last time anyone tried to do that it went nowhere. I just hope everyone voting is aware how you would do anything in order to make a trade, signing, etc. happen. And most of the time, you would cheat the system. But argue with you, I will not. It won't go anywhere.

I'm sorry about dragging this conversation out too, i was honestly frantically rounding about last night, as i had to prepare for a multitude of tasks since I went away today to a beach to relax. I hope you understand I'm not "cheating the system" to garner votes, I am merely using the best assets at my disposal, if you feel that's not the truth, I won't disagree to start a controversy either.

Has that multi-team trade gone through? I don't think it should based on how the protected pick was traded when it shouldn't have without getting the other GM involved. Has it gone through?

I believe it was an honest mistake by the Raptors GM at the time due to the pace of how things worked near the deadline, and both he and the knicks GM have reached an agreement.

I don't mind you taking a shot at me, but could we please keep it to a minimum, including the write-ups, where I expect NO ONE to talk about another team except their own.

trade approved, Spurs GM- make sure you put the waived players on your committed salaries for 08-09, this goes for ALL GMs that waived players, you have to state them clearly on your salary spreadsheet
