I agree with Flaming Mo, we are missing a Mike Lowell.

Not sure what to make of these Roberts rumors again, I dont think we have what it takes without giving up Pie or Ceda. It makes the most sense to just go after furcal.

Soriano is an idiot. Don't give me this "The Cubs are not built for a short series" crap. We had the best 1-2-3 pitching staff in baseball going into the playoffs. If you actually hit the ball maybe we would have actually won.

If the Cubs trade for Roberts then they would likely put DeRosa in right full time. I think it would be easier to just sign Furcal and no go through the whole offseason drama again.

1. Roberts/Furcal- 2B/SS
2. Lee- 1B
3. Ramirez- 3B
4. Soriano- LF
5. Soto- C
6. DeRosa- RF
7. Theriot/Fontenot- SS/2B
8. Pie- CF

Even with Pie in the lineup our offense is better because it is more balanced. And Pie has never gotten enough consistent at bats in the majors to succeed. He is a monster in AAA.

Nice I like Lee in the 2 spot. Hopefully Lou grows a pair next Spring Training and shakes the order around instead of putting players in spots because of their emotions *cough Soriano*

Why not just trade for Roberts, put him at 2nd and then sign Furcal. Move DeRo to RF and Fuku to CF. Incluede DeRosa in the Roberts trade or a trade with the Twins involving another prospect or two and Theriot to get Delmon Young from the Twins. This is all highly unlikely but I'm just throwing around ideas in my head right now. These ideas also dismiss obtaining any pitching help in the off-season...along with having another RH dominating lineup...like I said, this will never fly and I'm sure my opinion will change in a matter of seconds.

1. Furcal SS
2. Roberts 2B
3. Ramirez 3B
4. Lee 1B
5. Soriano LF
6. Soto C
7. Young RF
8. Fukudome CF

I was thinking Lee is the perfect hitter for the two spot (some power, can take a lot of pitches, goes the other way well) but the main problem is he grounds into SOOOO many double plays you can't possibly have him bat second. Lee would be great as a 5-6 hitter. If you can get a legit #4 hitter (Abreu and Ibanez are the only options) that bats lefthanded and can split up Aramis and Lee, we could be on to something.

Wouldn't mind seeing Adam Dunn in a Cubs uniform. Would be the perfect #4 hitter to split up Lee and Aramis and he rakes at Wrigley. He has 23 career home runs at Wrigley and is hitting .286 there. (He's a career .247 hitter)

Ramirez has a record 26 postseason home runs in his career, and hit two in the Dodgers' series sweep of the Cubs.

Hmm...wouldn't mind seeing him a Cub uniform either.

Adam Dunn would be awesome. The only problem is his defense in right would be abysmal. I'd play him at 1st over Lee, but the Cubs never would.

until we move soriano out of the one spot we arent going to win. he suxx as a #1 hitter, its a waste of talent. we have a bunch of regular season players, but none of these guys can play in the clutch. we have no one like a jeter or manny who is going to lead by example

Best thing Ive read thus far, but not likely(his trade proposal at least).

I would actually be down for trading Z.

I think that at the bare minimum we should replace Edmonds with Ibanez.

Is Blanco a FA?

Woah Jeff Samardzija's deal is looking pretty good right now. When he signed it I thought it was stupid because I thought he was a sure bust. But he has been a great reliever.

I agree, but he is nowhere near ready. He needs to put in a lot of work this winter if he wants to stick and be effective in the majors.

Hopefully the Cubs get wise and dont try and Joba him, he is most valuable as a reliever.

Probably not. I think Blanco is significantly better defensively than Hill that it makes little sense.

That Big Z trade is awful. Soriano needs to get dealt, not Z. They need a true lead-off hitter and a left handed hitting out fielder with power.
