Re: JaVale McGee
Gonna be hard to trade Etan until he shows he's fully healthy again. He's got this year plus an option for next year so he's far more expendable.
What are the chances Etan gets out of his contract?

Re: JaVale McGee
I will have a new found respect for EFJ if he has the balls to start McGee or Blatche over Etan.
If Etan is the starter after being out a whole season with a serious surgery and being amazingly sucky his whole career in major minutes then EFJ is seriously dumber than I thought he was.

Insider's poll on who should be starting center ...
It's still early, but McGee is leading right now with 45% of the vote. Etan is second at 33%, Blatche third at 21%. OPec and Songaila bringing up the rear, sharing the remaining 1% between them.

There's a way you could have respect for EFJ? Have you been drinking again? Does Doc have a gun to your head? What the hell is going on here?
Get the **** outta here.....you had me going for a second.

This is possible?
I gotta go have a smoke.

I can't think of any way that Etan "gets out" of his current deal. But when I said that Etan/Songaila would be made expendable by a blossoming McGee, that doesn't mean that they necessarily have increased value. But it does mean that we don't need to hold on to them out of necessity.
Teams trade junk for junk all the time. I wouldn't mind taking on a bad contract if it's at a position that could help us or if it helps us financially. Maybe a team is willing to trade a guy who's not doing anything for them for two guys who, while overpaid, can at least contribute a little. Cleveland if Big Ben really is done? The Wiz would have more 2010 cap room and a massive expiring to use on the open market next summer.

I say start Etan at first. Prove to the rest of the league that he is back to 100%. Then trade him.

Even at 100% there is little market for Etan and his bloated contract. Maybe next year when his contract is about to expire some team will want him but not now. I say you start Blatche and then divide up the rest of the minutes between Etan and McGee. They will probably get plenty of minutes due to Blatche's tendency to foul.

Yes, if the Wizards want to take back either Antoine Walker or Marko Jaric from the Grizzlies in exchange for Etan.

Eddie Jordan and Antoine Walker would be a catastrophic combination.

We'd have to kidnap him when he got off the plane, tie him up, and keep him in somebody's basement for the duration of the season. It'll be like that movie, "Beantown".

Why stop at Walker? I say kidnap them both. Kill two birds with one stone. While you're at it, get me the names and social security numbers of the entire medical staff. We need to cleanse this organization.

My God man. What in the hell??? You okay over there?
Antoine Walker in a Wizards uniform? He's probably EJ's ideal version of a Princeton center. I can imagine the lineups we might see. A Walker & Songaila frontcourt. Ugh.........
I might quit watching Wizards games if that happens.

Agreed. There was no market for Etan when he was healthy and starting for us the season before last. He could dominate Dwight Howard again and he'd still garner little interest. I think his injury history has something to do with it and that trade kicker in his contract doesn't help either.
The rest of the league has the book on Etan and its been read thoroughly. Were stuck with him.
I say start McGee and hope Etan can be at least moderately productive against 2nd & 3rd string scrubs. Blatche should get any extra minutes at C. Songaila should only see limited minutes at PF and Pecherov should get comfy and find a good book to read because I'd make sure he stays glued to the bench.

Re: JaVale McGee
JMac looked great again last night vs. the spurs. I love his game already, especially his shooting touch from 15' and in, and his shot blocking instincts. If this kid had been a blue chip prospect from a top-tier college, he'd be drawing comparisons to Chris Bosh right now. I really hope he pans out. This franchise has been one all-star caliber big man away from contention since forever. JMac could be the guy, but he going to need some summers to fine-tune his post skills (on both ends of the floor). I'm finally starting to feel good about this team's long-term prospects. I think JMac, Noodles, AB, and DMac all have bright futures in the league if they work hard at developing their god-given talents. I'm going to go on the record as commending EG for picking this kid.
Also -the Dee Brown signing looks good right now, too. He looked quicker than Tony Parker last night, and highly skilled at ball handling. moreso than I remember his being at Illinois. Dee reminds me a lot (skill-wise) of Brevin Knight, given his seemingly endless supply of energy and abilities to push and distribute on offense and pester the ballhandler on defense. A (sort of) one-man full-court press. This is one of the most under-rated skills in the NBA, as it forces your opponent to use a couple extra shot-clock minutes with each possession which can (sometimes) throw the offense out of sync or (at the very least) limit their half-court set options to only those that require less time (read: less ball movement). I'd like to see him get most of the PG minutes while Gil is out, but it's doubtful given how entrenched Daniels is in EJ's rotation (being thought of, as he is, as an extension of EJ on the court). AD turns 34 this season, that's old for an NBA player. Given AD's aggressive style of play throughout his career ( the dude seems to take a masochist glee from getting knocked from the air to the floor). I have to figure his body is due for a breakdown. Unless he proves to possess some super-human ability to defy the aging process (see: Ricky Henderson, Kevin Willis, Gordie Howe, Dikembe Motumbo), his career has entered its waning years. I don't think he's going to be the guy who will put the young Wizards in the best position to succeed. Meaning: suddenly, the Wizards are blessed with a wealth of young talent - athletic kids who can run all night and still have energy left over to jump out of the gym. They need a PG who can run with them and hep them maximize their potential.

Re: JaVale McGee
I got to see JaVale play last night for the 1st time, impressive for a Rookie, he's got well rounded game, true Center.
(Draft Day) I was so pissed about not getting Roy H from G-Town last night the new kid took away all of my questions about why.
