Greg Oden already hurt.

Post#1 » by JordansBulls » Wed Oct 29, 2008 5:11 am

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=3670042

Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden injured his right foot in the first half of the opening-night game against the Los Angeles Lakers and did not return. A Trail Blazers spokesman said Oden would have an X-ray on the foot.

Oden, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 draft, had microfracture surgery on his right knee in September of 2007 and missed all of last season. As of Tuesday night, exactly one year and four months after he was drafted, he has yet to score his first NBA point. He missed four field goals and two free throws in 13 minutes of play.

Somebody needs to check if that guy has a black cloud following him around everywhere because this is getting ridiculous.

he's obviously injury prone, but that was just bad luck with Fisher being there..any other player would have left the game, especially of Oden's worth and since it was a completely meaningless game..

Results of tonight's X-Ray are inconclusive. That doesn't sound good. Usually they would come out right away and say the results are negative.

As an openminded Blazer fan, not surprised in the least about the injury.

It did look kind of like a freak injury that could happen to anyone though as he just landed really awkward on his foot, so I think it's just a lot more unfortunate than anything having to do with his bone structure or history.

I think he just needs to sit out until he gets his lift and stamina back, if its true that microfracture takes 12-20 months to heal in some cases, I don't think there's any reason at all to have him out there to limp around and reinjure himself right now.

just an unlucky play but he needs to get in shape to help prevent future injuries.

On the Blazer board,

Oden2 wrote:Durant doesn't fit this team. We'd probably be better off with nothing than Durant since he takes away from the team mentality, which is definitely not what the Blazers are all about.

eh..by definition, sure a reg. season game ( one ) is a meaningless game in the big picture. But there is some meaning to this game. Drafted number 1 and missing the first season due to injury and then his first game in the NBA ( a year later) and gets hurt again. Sure, its not that major and it is just one game. But there is some meaning to it, given his history and hype.
Cheers. — Mags

How come Dwight never has those "unlucky" plays.

I hope he gets healthy too. It'd be a waste if he's going to be injury prone.

I think it'd be brilliant if Oden was a worse pick than Bargnani

Would make me feel better at least :(

No but really, I think any Portland fan that says they wouldn't go back and take Durant if they could right now is probably full of it. I mean I know it's way too early to write Oden off, but there's probably at least a 50% chance that Oden is Bowie at this point. I'd probably take Horford at this point if I had the choice too, the kid will average 11 boards for sure... probably 15 points+... I'd love Horford on my team.
