Oden out 2-4 Weeks
http://blog.oregonlive.com/blazers/2008 ... pdate.html
While not necessarily great news, fans can take a little bit of a breather as the Trail Blazers released the following press release about the foot injury Oden suffered in Tuesday's game against the Lakers:
PORTLAND, Ore. - A Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Computerized Axial Tomography (CAT) Scan today confirmed Portland Trail Blazers center Greg Oden has a mid-lateral right foot sprain.
The MRI revealed a couple of avulsions that are not believed serious and do not require surgery.
Oden is expected to be out 2-4 weeks.
The injury occurred during the first quarter of Portland's Tuesday night game at the Los Angeles Lakers.

We've already covered this in the other thread. No reason to open another one for more bashing.

2-4 weeks of being out on a freak injury where he stepped on Fisher's foot while being pulled down by Bynum isn't something to bash Oden about. If anything the fact that all it was is an ankle sprain should put the bashing to a stop.

While I'm not a Portland fan, I would like to see him stay healthy, and not have a career ruined by injuries.

So true.
I'm really pulling for him. He's a very nice, modest, and sincere dude. He's already waited a year for his rookie season to start, I just want to see him start playing already for his sake. I hope this doesn't take a toll on him mentally and emotionally.

Wow I didn't think he was going to miss more than 1-2 weeks. Hopefully he can play in 2 weeks, but you know Portland will try to get him back later than sooner. Lucky for them they have an easy schedule to begin the season. I think they can actually be a few games over .500 by the time he comes back.

Yeah, they only have to play the spurs, suns, jazz, hornets, and rockets in the next couple weeks. Piece of cake.

Portland should just start trading their picks if their 1 or 2 because they just can't seem to get it right for them.

I'm not so sure, they have been pretty careful with him, they probably should have played him more in the preseason, for instance.

From what little i've seen of him, Oden seemed like a cool guy. I wish him well and hope to see that potential being fulfilled one day.

Re: Oden out 2-4 Weeks
One thing I would worry about early on, these injuries HAVE to effect him mentally, and when he does come back, he may play tentatively, which usually can lead to more injuries.
Though he didn't look to tentative in his debut, but definitely had the jitters.
I really wanted to see him run a gauntlet of Duncan, Shaq, Yao, Boozer/Memo, Al Jeff, and Howard all in a row. I like to see young guys take their lumps from the established stars, and see how they fire back, but this just sucks.

Oden is a good guy. I am the same year at ohio state that he was and ran into him a few times. My dorm was right next to his. Hes cool enough to talk to normal people like me. I wish him the best. If he pans out he can be the best defender in the league.

We have 16 of our 1st 24 games on the road, and like 8 of our 1st 10 are against playoff teams from last year or something. Our schedule is brutal early on, and Oden is missing a lot of match ups vs premier big men in the NBA. Hopefully its only 5-7 games though.

He is a good guy and I hope he catches a break. But he reminds me of Sam Jackson from Unbreakable, always injured
