Most Clutch Player in Todays Game.
In your opinion, who is the most clutch player that is currently in the league?
This doesn't necessarily mean that it is the person who hits the most buzzer beaters, but the player who makes the most optmial decisions in crunch time that leads their team to a W.
For me, i gotta go with Nash. The guy is obviously on the decline but his IQ is still there and he knows just when to make the right pass or shot when it counts most.

Players like Kobe and LeBron are going to be posted just because they're too good at all times to not be "clutch". But when it comes to players that truly elevate their game when it's all on the line, it's gotta be Paul Pierce or Brandon Roy.

Carmelo's always wet.
In 05-06 he was the clutchest player.

Top 3?
Kobe, LeBron and Wade (in no order) are 3 of the most clutchest player in the league today. They've proven it year in and year out. -- Roy is good, but not top 3 worthy (yet)
fwiw, being clutch doesn't always mean a big shot, it can be a crucial pass, steal, rebound, etc.

This goes back to what I was saying before about great players. Those three you named also just happen to be the three best players in the league. Yeah, I guess when it comes down to it, you want the ball in their hands more than anyone at the end of the game, but that's obvious, they're the best. Any top 3 player will be clutch. A more interesting convo is about players like James Posey, younger Robert Horry, etc.

Lebron, Kobe, and Wade are still the players I think most fear the most when it's a close game in the last few minutes.

If I needed someone to take the last shot...Kobe.
If I needed someone in the 4th Quarter of Game 7 of the Finals....Wade.
Kobe's a killer, but Wade is just as ruthless and is more of an overall playmaker. Kobe can lead you back with scoring. Wade can as well, but is just as likely to make clutch passes, blocks, steals, or get to the line.

With clutch steals, rebounds, passes, shots, etc., Roy is responsible for 40% of Portland's wins since he was drafted.
I don't understand how that isn't top 3 in the league.

Where'd you get that number from, or did you just throw it out there?

It was a stat that The Oregonian quoted in early November... Roy's been responsible for more than 40% of our wins since, so the percentage should actually be trending up.

LOL and people always call Lebron a choker, they have no idea. He just has to take it to the hole for an easy 2, there is little to nothing you can do stop someone with his combination of build and quickness.

Interesting. Do recall how they calculated such a stat?
I mean, what are they factoring into their equation on a player vs player basis to come out with who on the team is responsible for a particular % of that team's winning %?

Re: Most Clutch Player in Todays Game.
They, as far as I know, did not go through the same calculations for any other player as the story was a piece on Roy.
The process, as far as they described it was any play in which Roy made the decisive play, be it a pass, steal, block, shot, rebound, etc. which pushed the game to overtime or gave the team the win, (and they did not double up on overtime wins).
They did not report it as a percentage though, they reported it as a number of wins, which I then calculated a percentage from by tabulating the total wins while Roy has been a Blazer. (Although to be fair, i actually did not subtract the games which he did not play, so the percentage should probably be higher.)
EDIT:
They also did not include games in which Roy was clutch to push it to overtime but that the Blazers eventually lost.
