FIBA starting club basketball championship - no NBA teams

That's too bad, I've always wanted a champion's league type of competition for basketball, but with NBA teams. I know, there'd prob have to be some scheduling changes, but yeah

I had kind of a weird idea that most people don't like, but I would love to see a larger scale club world tournament like this, but from the NBA, include only lottery teams, and the NBA teams that perform best get rewarded with higher draft picks (screw free handouts for the tankers!)

still awsome tbh. I'm not sure porn would be the best analogy since ppl'll get turned on by almost anything.

Cool. Sounds like in the future the NBA will be invited. I don't know how it would work out with the NBA having such a long season though. The Celtics played 100+ games last year, imagine if they had to go straight from the finals to another competition?!

NBA would dominate, even the Thunder would go undefeated against teams from other leagues. I don't see where the attraction would be to other teams if they allowed the NBA Champions to join in. Plus, 1 million to the NBA teams is like pocket change.

I wouldn't go that far... the euro national teams do pretty well against us, you don't think some of the stronger euro-clubs could do the same? maybe there wouldn't be much competition now, but that's because the european players aren't playing with the best. A few years playing against NBA players and the level of competition would improve dramatically (not that it isn't improving already). I think this is an awesome idea... it will go a long way towards globalizing the NBA product and is a stepping stone towards a european NBA division.

Yeah right.
I don't know if the Blunder could beat Arizona State, let alone a top international team.

I don't know about that. Didn't we have like a tournament a few years ago with the Sixers and the Suns in the pre-season. I know NBA clubs lost a couple of games.

what about sending the 2 teams who were #9 on their respective conference? The top 2 teams to miss the playoffs is a decent idea.

I always liked like idea of the World Series champ and the Japanese Series champ playing one more series in Hawaii against each other. This is kinda like that, I guess, so it's not bad.

I mean, you have to remember the World Series started as an exhibition between the AL and NL, it'd be nice to open up a true "World" championship in the same manner, regardless of the sport.

The NBA won't participate expect in an exhibition format to warm up for the regular season. And they certainly won't send the champs.

The Euro seasons are much shorter. And NBA owners don't give a crap about some basketball championship unless it can generate revenue equal to the NBA regular season.

No, Thunder suck balls. On a good day Idaho from the D-league will woop them by 10 points. Minesota T-Wolfs -yes, Thunder - no.

I hope that there will be team from the USA - D-League, CBA or IBL should represent USA. And if the games are in China this will be huge attendance boost - in last years Tournament del Americas(American version of the Euroleague), all teams were selling out despite they played against two IBL teams. I think that the Mexican league champ, selled out its 18 000 arena.
