ESPN has Lawrence Frank as the frontrunner for COTY

Post#1 » by Pancho_Pantera » Wed Dec 10, 2008 3:52 am

Big LOL.

I'm watching Coast to Coast and they had Frank as the frontrunner for coach of the year.

That's utterly disgusting. Frank is one of the worst coaches ever, and if it weren't for his love affair with Thorn, he'd be long gone by now.

Can either of you honestly say you expected the Nets to have as many wins as they have already?

I swear we should call it the "Jerry Sloan Coach of the Year" Award

i agree with you. If the nets even touch 40+wins and makes it to the playoffs this man diserves considerations...but now meh. Really cool though since im a Nets fan. I guess they gave him the fronrunner because basically everywere had the Nets the second to last team(ahead of the Thunder) in Pre Season Power Rankings.

They should just rename the Coach of the Year award to the "Coach of the Team that Overachieved and/or did Better than Expected at the Beginning of the Season" award.

That'll be the closest he'll ever get to the award, sadly :(

I'm not really a big Lawrence Frank fan, but he's done a good job this year. Naming him as a COY candidate is not really worthy of all these "LULZ."

I wonder if Duncan will win a COTY before he retires...

I'd think Mike Brown would be the leading candidate at this point. #1 offense, #2 defense, #1 point differential

Mike Brown certainely deserves mention but then again since *Lebron is destined to win multiple championships and is hands down the best player in the league* - or so many Cavs fans would like one to believe - aren't the Cavs just doing what's expected of them?

COTY is indeed the least legitimate award of all time (though DPOY is a close second). One of Phil Jackson, Gregg Popovich, Jerry Sloan or Pat Riley should win this award every single year, they are head-and-shoulders above the competition. The fact that Phil Jackson, Gregg Popovich and Jerry Sloan have a combined 2 COTY awards is absolutely disgusting, and is an embarrassment to the NBA.

LOL one month ago he was the frontrunner for the "who'll lose his job first".

It's Mike Brown so far.

Definitely liking the fact that Mike Brown has decided to learn something about how to use his players properly on offense... it's been a noticeable shift in Cleveland's gameplan that has them looking so good, because their defense has been pretty sweet under Brown (a Popovich disciple and a very good defensive coach) since he got there. I'm impressed with his growth as a coach and yeah, he's COY worthy.

Sam Mitchell's COY was a joke and if Frank wins it, though he is a good coach and the Nets are looking very good, it is another poorly-allocated COY award.
