I am surprised no team has ever achieved this feat.

It's really hard to always win by 12+ because even when you blow a team out they come back during junktime and get within 10.

What is the combined record of the teams they've been beating?? anyone got the facts??

They are facing some mediocre to bad teams but it's the manner at which they are beating them. Just as Indiana proved against LA and Washington proved against Detroit, any team can win on any given night. When I see a top team versus a bad team I usually chalk up a loss for the bad team but it's very rare that you see THIS many teams blown out this easily, this often. I mean c'mon, this has gone on for 9 STRAIGHT games, it's not like teams are laying down for the Cavs. It's surprising that no team has been able to take away what they do well. The Cavs are earning these wins. The Cavs have like a 21+ point differential right now? That's insane.

**Edit**
The Kings are up 20 against the Lakers late in the 4th. This just goes to show that any team can win on any given night.

I saw LeBron rested the entire 4th quarter again. I think it's impressive they haven't had any letdowns. Their competition hasn't been stellar but even the good teams will typically lose games they should win like the Lakers tonight.

Yes the Cavs aren't playing like a good team, they are playing like a great team. This is what happened in 95-96 the Bulls never let a team come back, never slipped. In fact even last season, the Celtics had plenty of close games, and that is something those 72-10 Bulls didn't have, they kept the margin big for most games. Cavs are keeping it big.

21 games in, the cavs average margin of victory for the season is 13.6. The best anyone has ever had for a full season was the 95-96 bulls, with 11.8.

A few weeks ago basketball-reference.com did this story

http://www.basketball-reference.com/blog/?p=393

about the Lakers start to the season. They evaluate teams by a rating system called SRS. The highest rating any team has ever had for a full season was the 71 Bucks, who finished the season at 11.91. The cavs have pulled ahead of the Lakers for the season with a rating of 13.14 going into tonight's games.

Cleveland isn't just playing good, they are playing at a level that if sustained over the full season is historically good.

82games.com tracks clutch minutes a player plays. clutch time being the final 5 minutes of games where teh score is within 5 points. Last year LeBron averaged just under 3 minutes per game (2:56), this year he's averaging 31 seconds/game.

Last year cleveland won 10 games by 10 points or more, this year we've won 15 of them already, including the last 9 games in a row (the all time league record is 10 in a row).

I'm still picking Detroit to win the East because of their experience.

Very impressive showing by the Cavs.

I find it unlikely that they'll break the point differential record though. The Celtics were on pace to break that record right up until pretty late last year. I think they were at around +14 this time of year as well. Numbers like that have a way of coming back down to earth.

it's impressive that they are making sub-par teams look like they don't belong in the nba, but these teams are sub-par. I don't expect them to maintain their point differential because they haven't played anyone good. The teams they lost to were the Hornets, Celtics, and Pistons. Of course, this was early in the season... so it probably doesn't mean much.

We will have to wait and see how this team stacks up against good competition...

Hmm, the Celtics beat teams by an average of 10.3 PPG last season, and at this point in the season, it was like +14-15.

i mean its defiantly something to look at. the difference between this years cavs team and last years is their ability to put teams away. rarley did i see a game where they didn't even need to play the 4th. the raptors are underachieving yes, but the game was over by the 3rd, thats pretty impressive

Lulz

Dont you guys know by now that they are an experienced rebuilding team? All of those ECF apperances mean that they are the BEST rebuilding team and thats something no one can take away from them. 3 weeks ago they were championship contenders, now they are top pick contenders. Life is good in the Motor City.

This Cavs streak is impressive but its only going to get better.

Seeing Bron hoist those 2 trophies in June is going to be a lot better though.

Its nice to see some consistency, unlike LA who started better but got complacent soon. That said, I dont think Cavs will sustain this pace, and I'm pretty sure they wont beat a record for the season.

Another point is - who cares how much you beat scrubs, matches with the main contenders like Cs and LA counts 10x more, so far Celtics beat all its main oponents including Cavs, except LA - that show will start in the near future as well
Who would win one-on-one in HORSE?

Bird: Nobody beats me in H-O-R-S-E. Besides, Magic cant shoot.

Magic: Larry, you'd have no chance against me one-on-one. I've got too many ways to beat you. Plus, as slow as I am, I'm still faster than you.

NPR had a piece this morning ridiculing this very practice in baseball stats. It's (Please Use More Appropriate Word) and bastardizes the true value of statistics. "9 game win streak by 12+ points" isn't totally ridiculous but it's getting there.

A farewell gift to Cavs fans.

They're the best team in the NBA and should be the favorites to win it all.
