Kobe should have had surgery

Post#1 » by Clangus » Thu Dec 11, 2008 5:20 am

His shooting slump has continued. All years he has mostly been off. Now he has committed to playing through the injury, I dont see it (his shooting) getting better

Who thinks he shuld have got te surgery done?

Are you even aware if he had surgery, that possibly could damaged his finger even more. And besides, seeing how well Kobe played last year with his injury, chances are it more due to fatigue of such a long season and summer, so it's wearing on him a bit. Come play-off he'll be fine.

Eh.. He's just missing shots. I doubt it has to do with his finger. Kobe is a little bit "meh" right now. Luckily he can be without his team losing too much. Hopefully he pulls a Duncan and step it up come post season.

I wouldn't be concerned with missing shots, he'll get it back..he's still the best scorer in the NBA..his defense looks bad though..

its not the finger

its his legs, playing all through the summer and into this season has made him weary, which is why a lot of his shots are falling short, not off course

He's just an old guy, at least a couple of years older than everyone else his age. Those that go straight from high school to the pros pass their prime fast. Look at Kemp, same thing. Even KG is clearly not the dominant player he once was, still great but past his prime. Backcourt players (who skip college) probably pass their prime even faster.

Kobe clearly appears to be in that Tim Duncan mode to me, except doing so will make a wing player look terrible on defense since, unlike Timmay, the scorers don't take their hoops into you.

Not to say that Kobe hasn't lost a step--he has; or that he's as quick on defense--he's not; or that he's shooting well--he's not (although his midrange hotzones have improved)...but I'm not really concerned about him.

Maybe I'm as complacent as the Lakers defense.

But Tim Duncan has never had a poor regular season, he delivers every year all year. He just happens to dominate even more in the playoffs. Tim Duncan is like Michael Jordan, Jordan always stepped up in the the playoffs.

Bryant is actually playing poor basketball in this regular season. I don't see what this has to do with Tim Duncan. If you want to rest during the regular season then just attempt less shots, but don't take bad shots, thats just poor play.

Compared to the premier players - Wade and James - his fg% is not up to par. That is if you are comparing him to the best. Those 2 guys have raised the bar back to where it was in Jordan's prime.

His fg% is 0.461. His career is 0.453. His best single season is 0.469.

Last year his 0.459 got him MvP.

Don't you feel dumb now?

Exactly, he's spent his whole career below the level of Wade and James. He's spent all these years shooting 3% lower than the new Kings. How does that feel? Obsolete?

His MVP stats don't mean much. He could have played like Dirk or Nash and won MVP, you know?

EFG
Do you know what 3pt Field Goals do to your FG%?

Wade has the best Career Field Goal% out of the three. You want to guess why?

Do you know what MVP is?

Oh
Lebron's Career = 0.468
Carmelo's Career = 0.460
Wade's Career = 0.482

this is a guy that tried arguing kobe, the second best player in the game, is past his prime. he's just a hater, there's no use arguing. i think kobe will be fine considering he won MVP with this same injury. I'm sure he's gotten used to playing with it.

bryant 08-09
3pt attempts per game: 3.0
FG%: 46.1

james 08-09
3pt attempts per game: 3.95
FG%: 49.1

wade 08-09
3pt attempts per game: 3.09
FG%: 49.9

So according to you KB is in his prime right now?
