How about we let them play like 10 games together before we make any predictions?

I don't think they can't beat LA. LA is the best team in the league atm.

Not if they can't play defense.

LA's the best team in the league? Really? I'm not even sure they are top 3 now with the Spurs back.

LA have the most beautiful offense in the league (I <3 the triangle, why is Phil Jackson the only NBA coach who runs it?), but honestly, they're not the best team in the league, they're #3 IMO. Here's my top 10, ordered as who I'd fear most in a playoff series (some of these teams don't have it going yet, like the Hornets and Pistons, but I feel they'll play up to par by the playoffs):

1. Celtics
2. Cavs
3. Lakers
4. Spurs
5. Hornets
6, 7, 8. Magic, Jazz, Pistons (not sure what order)
9, 10. Blazers, Nugs (not sure what order)

The Cavs and Celtics just have too much of an edge in toughness/defense/rebounding for me to rank LA higher than them. Only the top 5 have any shot at all at a championship, IMO, and honestly I'd put a lot of money on it being one of the Celtics or Cavs. I don't have Houston on this list because I feel they have basically no shot at ever being healthy, and also their offense is just ugly/dysfunctional under Adelman.

You could give the Suns Paul, Kobe, Wade and Lebron.

Porter would still find ways to lose. He'd run the offense through Robin Lopez and Louis Amundson.

They are even worse now. They will be the worst defensive teams in the league.

1 LA
1b SA
3 Den
4 Uta
5 Por
6 NO

and then I have Phx/Dal but that is where i had them before the trade. they could potentially jump into a home court seed or miss the playoffs time will tell.

I think they'll be in a dogfight to get homecourt advantage... but if they can form some identity and level of comfort with their team they could easily make WC Finals.

Behind:

LA, Utah, SA, Portland, New Orleans, and Denver

The Suns and Rockets will fight for 7th, which basically means not playing the Lakers and having a ''fair' shot if healthy.

Phoenix will compete with the Mavs for the 8th playoff spot.
1. Lakers
2. Houston
3. Denver
4. San Antonio
5. Portland
6. Utah
7. New Orleans
8. Phoenix or Dallas

Better than the Mavs or Blazers but no way better than Rockets, Lakers, Jazz and Hornets.

I dont see how this makes them better at all. They lose depth which is something they cant afford, they also lose their best defender which they cant really afford. I think this locks them out of the playoffs altogether J-rich is simply not that good of a player.

They gained more offense and lost defense and a little depth (big man depth). I don't know if this will help them or hurt them during the regular season, I have to watch a few games to make a decent prediction. I could very well see it helping them, Nash/J-Rich/Amare/Shaq sounds like a team that could pile up some wins. However, come playoff time, I think it hurts them. No D. But who knows, nobody said they're done making trades.

Starbury's Suns have won just as much as Nash's Suns vs the Spurs...

He was always a very tough guy for the Spurs to cover while with the Suns.

He can take the Suns to another level...

umm Starbury did win a playoff series against The Spurs.... I believe that is correct in 02?
