Briggs for Jenkins?
From a very credible source, I have learned the Bears and Panthers are talking about a deal involving Lance Briggs and Kris Jenkins, also involving RB Eric Shelton heading to CHI. It's progressed enough that Rosenhaus has begun talking long-term deal with CAR for Briggs. That could be a sticking point, as Briggs is under the illusion he deserves top-5 LB pay (his franchise tag value) and yet he wouldn't be the #1 LB on at least 20 teams.

Jenkins is junk.. This would be a terrible trade for Chicago.. Jenkins is always hurt.
This trade makes very little sense from the Bears point of view. If they really wanted to pair Tommie with a DT why didn't they accept the deal of WASH #6 overall pick? Could have taken Okoye at that spot.
Doesn't Jenkins want a big contract & extension?
Carolina better be offering up a first rounder in this deal or it's rape for Carolina.

My thoughts exactly as a Saint's fan

I don't think people realize how much of a game changer Jenkins is when he is on the field.

I know he's got a history of drinking and weight problems... but on the field, he's an absolute monster when he wants to be. No one would be able to run on Chicago, if Jenkins got his act together.

Wasnt there a rumor of teh Bears getting not just a 1st rounder but the number 6 overall pick in this past year's draft?
Oh yeah, who did they use that pick on again?

The only thing that stopped Briggs from going to WAS for the #6 pick was that the Bears wanted more than the Skins were willing to part with in return. I've heard conflicting reports on what the Bears asked for, but it was either Rocky McIntosh or Antwan Randle El along with the pick. The Skins wanted them to take Brandon Lloyd off their hands in regards to helping them afford Briggs.
This potential Briggs-for-Jenkins (or anyone else) deal is basically dead now that Briggs is forced to play for the one-year tender. The trade value for Briggs and Asante Samuel just plummeted, which does actually make it more likely that they get dealt in the manner that Peerless Price did a few years back when he was in the same situation (1st round pick).
