If a team is in desperate need for a goalie due to injuries or whatever, Theodore wouldn't be a bad option.

Jay is a great young D-Man who doesn't get his respect because he plays on **** Flordia. I mean Whits is good and all but I think Jay has the higher celing both are elite young d-man. Nathan for Staal is also pretty close I would choose Staal just because he's 3 years younger and looks damn good to start trying to rebuild with. I mean the Panthers could throw you something else but they will not overpay for the sake of overpaying. The deal isn't that bad it's a pretty good starting point.

I wouldn't do Bouwmeester and Horton for Whitney and Staal because Bouwmeester is going to be a free agent next season. The Pens won't be able to sign him so the Pens would be losing out on the deal.

If Bouwmeester was signed for another year, then yes, I would do it.

Wouldn't the Pens be enough under the cap to resign him? I mean yeah you risk loosing him but it just might be enough to win you the cup this year. I am not saying it's a sure fire thing but I wouldn't low ball the Panthers. The deal doesn't work as well since Jay makes $4.875 million and Horton makes $3.5 million vs Whits $3 million and Staal's $850k salary. You would need to send more money and that would make this trade something that you guys wouldn't do. The only salary that comes close is Satan or you man crush Brooks Oprik and we all know you wouldn't move him even for Ovechkin

Salary doesn't matter. It is the cap hit. Whitney and Horton's cap hit is both $4 million. Staal is a tad bit below $3 million.

The Pens would be under the cap coming this offseason but, more than likely, the cap will stay the same or fall a couple million. Bouwmeester is going to be looking to be paid between $5-7 million a season. The Pens can't afford to have that money tied up in one player.

Yes, he would be.

I'm sorry but isn't the question in regards to a "Star or Superstar"? If that's the case, then Jose Theodore shouldn't even be mentioned in here lol... Theodore is nothing close to a star. He had a good couple seasons in Mtl and one spectacular one, but aside from that he has done nothing lately to warrant being mentioned in here.

I know that's why I said he's not a star but a trade option lol.

When Theodore is locked in, he's really good. Too bad that usually happens after he gives up about three goals, thus earning him the name Jose Threeormore. Their has to be a GM stupid enough to trade for him.

I dont see why you would want to deal Theodore? Yes Johnson has played well is a very small amount of games but there is no way i'd be expecting to make any kind of run in the playoffs with him as my #1. What if he gets injured also, you expect to go anywhere with Varlomov?

I'd much rather start a playoff series with Jose Theodore then Brent Johnson or Varlamov.

Theo is very inconsistent and if we're going to have to live with that, I'd rather do it with Varlamov. At least Varlamov is agile and quick. Theo looks slow and lazy on a nightly basis.

Oh cute, he has another nickname.

When he played in Montreal we called him Openthedore.
