CV,Lue may be traded for Landry and Filler

Post#1 » by paulpressey25 » Sat Dec 27, 2008 3:40 am

This is a message from our resident insider kingpin (GAD) reporting from an undisclosed secret location.....

Sorry I couldn't share this here until now. A few people can attest I
did have this yesterday though.

Principles are Carl Landry to MKE, Villanueva to HOU, Lue to LAL.
Ongoing discussions. To make it work, HOU will likely send MKE Barry
or Head, LAL Mihm to HOU

Landry had a 12/25 trade restriction due to later of 12/15 or 3 months
from FA signing rule.

Landry has to consent to any trade until 9/25/09 because Houston
matched that Bobcats offer sheet. Houston has dicked Landry around on
his contract 2 offseasons in a row now, plus he is from Milwaukee
Vincent and seemed interested in playing here when he worked out with
us for the 2007 draft, so I imagine he'd consent

If you don't like the deal, here's something that might bring you around from Ty:

hmmmm thanks PP for everything.......assuming it would be Head, the Bucks pick-up a back-up 2 guard who can score and defend....Landry can defend but nowhere near the scorer that CV is....CV is gone at the end of the year regardless........as long as Ridnour stays healthy and keeps playing well, Sessions is the primary........interesting deal, nothing to suck anyone's member over....you know who I am talking about!.

The hang up is who we get with Carl. Head or Barry. If its one we may also get a pick included with that player (NOT CONFIRMED). I personally would prefer Barry. (more length).

I would like Head in return. The player and the action. ;)

I guess I'm fine with this deal. Might as well get something for Villanueva since he's not likely to be back and if Lue goes, then we can use Jones to replace Lue's shooting.

What do we get for Lue? I like Carl alot, but Villanueva really brings some punch.

Haha nice.

Hmmm i like it. Landry when motivated last year was very very good and is a local guy. CV is due for a reasonably big payday this offseason so it saves us overpaying him. I like, depending on who the filler is.

I don't care if Landry produced 20 wins for the Rockets.

He's a guy who's had consistent injury problems, is not THAT physical as he's hyped up to be and won't provide us anything more than CV already does.

CV is putting up better numbers by a landslide in 2 more minutes this year AND we give up Lue?

No way.

Woelfel's also mentioning OKC as a possibility.

Not a big fan of this deal unless we get Head as well. CV was finally becoming consistent. If we can land Landry and Head it would give us two contributers though. All I know is that Landry is tough on NBA2k9...haha.
All posts are my own opinion.

My understanding is its done and all players wil be on their way to their respective destinations tomorrow. The reason DJ wil be joining the Bucks is for us to field a full squad of 12. He may not stay here permanently or maybe he wil. Who knows. Bell isnt done for the year but has significant swelling in his knee.

I've paid close attention to Landry the last couple of years because of his ties to Milwaukee and have ALWAYS come away impressed. Positive PER differentials his first two seasons. The knee never appeared to be an issue when he was playing. I bet the Bucks had interest this offseason but because he was restricted they figured why waste the time. The Rockets were going to match whatever Bucks' offer. And it wasn't going to work salary wise unless we were shipping players out. So it was more prudent to wait until he signed and then his trade restriction expired. During his workout with the Bucks he divulged dreaming of playing for the Bucks. I'd be shocked if he declined the trade.

Brent Barry wouldn't exactly be filler, for us, if he returned to his form last year w/ extended minutes.

Here's some video on Landry..... :)

And if you want to talk with Houston guys, their primary message board is Clutch City. Here is a link to a recent thread on Landry:

Landry also has a pretty friendly contract. $3mm this year and for the next two years after that. Apparently the last year is a team option.
