I was wondering, which team is majority wise the favorite to Canadians?

Wouldn't that kill the CFL?

Not that everyone doesn't regard it as a minor league/drug rehab center league, but still.

We canucks do love our 3 downs, but Toronto would rather have an NFL team than a CFL team. Anyway, it wouldn't kill the CFL, though it might kill the Argos. I'm not even sure it would do that though, because the seasons are different for the most part, and because the CFL is cheaper to go to, I think.

Canadians on the whole don't have a favourite NFL team; I think 49ers fans, Bears fans, Packers fans and Cowboys fans might be more prevalent than others nationally, but that's from personal experience. In Toronto there are a large number of Bills fans, since you can drive to Buffalo and back in a day easily. I that works a few other places, like the Seahawks in Vancouver.

When I mentioned Wilson I wasn't talking about just for territorial rights; he's admitted that when he dies the team is going to be sold, and I have a hard time seeing anyone outbidding Ted Rogers and friends then.

Even if they outbid everyone, if they don't get approval by the league and the owners, then it doesn't mean anything. And I'd assume that they'd approve a Los Angeles-based bid before a Toronto-based bid any day.

I wish I could dig up what I wrote about this subject, many times before. But the major point is that, the biggest hindrance are the Bills, and as long as they exist and occupy Buffalo, Toronto will never, ever get a team (Territorial Rights).

I fully agree with you that as long as the Bills are in Buffalo, a team isn't heading here. On the other point...

Under Tagliabue I would have agreed with you about LA regardless; under Goodale, unless the LA bid is pretty darned well put together, which I just can't see a relocation bid from LA being, I'm not so sure. Goodale wants this. Also, not only is Ted probably willing to offer more than market value as a premium for bringing a team over the border (like, rumour has, he did a few years back, for a team I can't remember... the Cardinals?), but the team is probably worth more in Toronto anyway, because there is already a decently established fan base for the Bills here, so I would expect his bid to knock the socks off of the next best. I wouldn't be surprised if the bid is so much more the league just couldn't say "no, you're selling it to those guys with the LA pipe dream instead" without a lawsuit from the estate.

The thing is, it's not up to Goddell... it's up to the Board of Owners. They'd have to approve whether or not a group of investors from Toronto can buy a team or not (AFAIK)

And yes... Ted tried to buy a team... the Saints (NO-KG-AI :D)

I think you are right about that, but the commissioner has got some pull, and I imagine the criteria being considered is different for relocation and expansion. Such as the amount of money being paid, I would guess.

And right, the Saints. That is a whole different set of reasons for rejection then.

Since when? The league is too thinned out to begin with

It would sure be swell if Goodell can assure me & everyone else by saying, There will never be another NFL team in L.A. :D They don't want, NEED OR DESERVE ANOTHER TEAM! And that's from someone who was born there. Cause i'm sick & tired of some people still talking about someone moving there. Not just Chris Berman interviewing a commissioner about that every single NFL draft. Also somebody asking the commissioner that on the annual friday commissioner speech 2 days b4 the superbowl.
