Bigby the current starter?

Post#1 » by deep throat » Tue Aug 14, 2007 3:43 pm

Article on JS http://www.jsonline.com/story/index.aspx?id=646182

I don't know what game M3 or JS reporter Silverstein were watching last Saturday. Silverstein called Bigby's play "relatively solid". Huh? He said he had only two "negative" plays. I counted at least 4 terrible- get you cut type plays. I think this shows how desperate they are, start watching the waver wire.

What was the 4th bad play? He had the blown tackle on the 41 yarder, and the missed tackle on Barlow. Like the article states, Blackmon is the one that got completely burned by Holmes, then Underwood misplayed it. Bibgy was there from the other side of the field.

I was impressed by him in the scrimmage and he is apparently playing very well in camp so I'm all for it. **** Manuel. Lets see how Bigby plays next game.

This story caught my eye as well. IR for Hodge or the street? He's done nothing on ST in his career so far.

I'm all for sheet canning Manuel, but I don't know if Brigsby is any better.

There were more plays, but another one that stood out was the longer run Davenport had on the left side. Atari made a feeble arm tackle on Davenport and the crapper dragged his assss for at least 8 additional yards. They proceeded to comment on it as I recall.

Yeah, I think that was Bigby. I do remember that play.

Some of my recollection is a little hazy since I was drinking free scotch ale at the Great Dane in Fitchburg.

Bigby must be blowing them away in practice. I sure wasn't impressed on Saturday.

He has the coolest name on the team probably so maybe they are just hoping for decent jersey sales from him. Too bad they can't put his first name on the back. That would be a pretty sweet jersey.

What I wouldn't do to have some combination of Butler, Robinson, or Sharper back. Those were the good old safety days.

The same thing I was thinking. Maybe he's a practice player? Had he played like that for a Belicheck team, his butt is gone the next day. I've mentioned this before, part of the problem must be Shottenhiemer (again). I was surpised how candid Gannon with his comments on the DBs (usually those preseason guys are pretty kiss butt). Do you remember a year ago? Same old story -DBs out of position - no communication.

I brought this up a few days ago wondering if the team would be willing to cut Hodge given his lack of speed, can on play one LB spot, and isn't a good special teams player. If he hadn't been a third round pick,my guess is he'd almost for sure be a goner.

Hodge is definitely on the bubble. For the second straight training camp they've had to tell him to tone it down, he's hitting too hard. Unfortunately doing it in practice and in a game are two different things. Plus he can't stay healthy. They could IR him, he doesn't cost that much but I think it's 75% he's cut.

I think Hodge and Underwood would seem to be IR candidates, if the team still likes them too much to cut them. Neither seems to fit as an active roster player.

If we go into the season with Bigby as our starting safety then I will not feel very good.
