Make a Trade

Post#1 » by eagle13 » Tue Aug 14, 2007 4:25 pm

Manuel sucks sucks sucks.
Underwood may need 1 more year on IR to fully regain his wheels.
With his athletic abiltiy Bigby should be given a big chance. Heck comapred to Manuel - why not?

But IF neither Bigby or Rouse (or Culver) break out in 2nd pre-season game

THEN -

S & TE positons are horribly broken
TT SHOULD show some GM skill (other than drafting) and

Trade some DT - Williams, Jolly, Cole
and/or
Trade a 2nd day pick

to get a talented 2nd string S and TE who could start for us. Or even a higher pick for a guy like Al Harris was when we got him - a talented backup.

A pick is worth it if player can competently start. Many rookies look good but bust and get cut.
And while I agree and prize DL - we can afford to give up one - especially Corey if we're not planning to resign him.

I'd give up a pick (unknown - no guarantee that rookie will cut it) any day for a (under 30) known commodity that has demonstrated at least athletic ability and assignment competence if not star power. A guy like Al Harris was when we got him - a talented backup.

Obviously no team is gonna trade a star or starter if they're doing well.

I was thinking the same thing pretty much. My guess is he is more likely waiting to see who gets cut by other teams for financial reasons and then tries to pickup some cagey veterans that way. Until that whole process takes place, a trade is probably out of the question.

Is there a solid coverage safety being blocked by a star at the moment? We could certainly afford to deal a DE or DT.

I got one, Daniel Manning behind Mike Brown in Chicago. Too bad it would never happen. Although with them losing Tank Johnson, we would make perfect trade partners is we weren't in the same division.

Scouring the depth charts I see a few guys but I'm not sure any would be significant upgrades in the coverage department.

Pat Watkins - Cowboys
Will Demps - Giants
Jordan Babineaux & Michael Boulware - Seahawks
Donte Nicholson - Bucs
Pierson Prioleau - Skins

TE is far and away there biggest need and a possible deal with Colts would not be out of question.....as far as safety goes, I am not willing to scrap Bigby based on one performance but I would like to see him out there with at least Collins and see how they play together....

I could see the Colts being interested in Williams, but not Cole.

Collins wont help him tackle any better. That was the worst display I have seen in a while by a Safety. Might as well hope the light goes on because we aint got sheet to replace him with on this roster.

A lot of people are talking about a trade between us and the Colts-

TE
D. Clark
B. Utecht
B. Fletcher
M. Seidman

The guy that people will want is Ben Utecht. They obviously wont give you Clark. Fletcher is old garbage, and Seidman is a former 3rd rounder bust.
We could offer Cole, I don't think we offer Williams because he is far and away the best inside Pass rusher we have. Utecht is not as good a blocker as Chumura, but about the same receiver.

Yes I would make the trade. The ages are about the same (26/27). the production for their positions is about the same. I think both would improve their numbers significantly given the change of scenery. It would improve both teams.
