Ivan, you are cold busted

Ouch. Ivan might need a few more "clarifications".

Here is Ivan's post regarding the Wiz practice on Monday.
-Andray Blatche, who has missed nine games with a strained left knee, participated in practice and is progressing but will not return against Minnesota tomorrow night. Interim coach Ed Tapscott said he wants to see Blatche go through at least another practice before testing the knee in a game.

-DeShawn Stevenson (lower back) remains out. He was on the court doing some shooting after practice today

Here is the Express's article on the same practice

All-Star guard practices for first time this season

The Wizards stepped lively through a high-spirited practice Monday, refreshed by the All-Star break and rejuvenated by the return of Gilbert Arenas.
Out since undergoing surgery on his left knee in September, Arenas practiced for the first time this season.

“Today seeing him on court, practicing and handling the contact, hitting shots and pushing the ball up and getting out in transition, was wonderful,” said forward Caron Butler. “It brought back a lot of memories. I look forward to playing with him and getting him back as soon as possible.”

The possibility of the return of Arenas, who had three surgeries on his left knee in a span of 18 months, is an emotional boost to a Washington (11-42) squad buried in last place in the Eastern Conference, nine games behind 14th place Toronto and on pace for the worst final record in franchise history.

“It was great just to have him out there. I think the energy and the whole atmosphere was just a little bit better,” said Butler. “Everybody was feeling a little bit better seeing him out there, seeing him full strength.”

“Full strength,” off course, is a relative term, especially with Arenas’ balky knee. Last year’s failed return was full of stops and starts. With $111 million committed to the 6-4 guard, the Wizards will be extra cautious, especially with so little at stake this season.

The Wizards also will be cautious with forward Andray Blatche who returned to practice yesterday for the first time after bumping knees with Phoenix center Shaquille O’Neal on Jan. 26.

Wizards interim coach Ed Tapscott said Blatche will be evaluated and will probably have to go through another practice before he is cleared to play.

Obviously, Ivan was not at that practice and probably just got a recap from Tap. In-response to the Express article outting Gilbert, Ivan had to write something about Gil in today's Post.

I just lost a lot of respect for Ivan, but I understand the need to "play along" or sit on stories for the sake of continuing press accessibility.

Ivan is an intellectual fraud. Read his latest blog entry today and read above

Gilbert Arenas confirmed to me a short while ago that he's been all-out practicing since last Monday, the day the team got back together following the all-star break.

No-kidding Ivan, you got scooped last week, you obviously were not at the practice last week and only spoke to Tapscott who was your sole source.

I find the invective directed at Ivan Carter amusing. I mean, seriously?

Come on Fish. You gotta at least admit that at best it's shoddy reporting on Ivan's part.

Either he's totally oblivious to what's happening around him or he's purposely disseminating incorrect information at the behest of team he's supposed to report on.

I'm no journalist but either way I think Ivan doesn't come out looking very good.

+1 Some may overlook what Ivan did, but I think he just insulted us all. Recall that Ivan said in-effect that there was nothing to the Express article when he obviously knew otherwise at the time.

Well, he either knew and lied to us or didn't know. Not sure which is worse.

You guys give him too much credit. He didn't know. Plain and simple. If he would have known, he would have wrote an article about it. Instead the Examiner did it, and it's a week later that Ivan finds out Arenas has been practicing.

I don't hate the guy. I just think his reporting is shoddy. He's one of those guys who expects everything to come to him rather than him going out and finding the story.

The fact that Butler was quoted, and Ivan still ignored it says a lot. A lot. And Ivan was supposedly at this practice too.

I just want him to be on the level, or near a guy like Tarik EL-Bashir who covers the Caps or JLC who probably knows the ins and outs of the Skins organization to the point that he might know what Snyder's daily routine is.

Bingo. He doesn't look very good. I get it and I agree! But the vitriol? The invective? Some of you need to get outside a little bit. The guy's a newspaper reporter for heaven's sake and you all have your panties in such a bunch that you'd think he was Bernie Madoff. Chill, my friends.

It would be nice to see a fiercely independent, highly intelligent journalist covering the Wizards. Say, like Larry Michael.

Bring back Aldridge! :D

I read that the Philly Papers just filed for bankruptcy. Not sure if they own the Inquirer where he writes these days.

Gilbert says that even after the last surgery he STILL didn't have a full range of motion in his knee. Then he went to some voodoo doctor in Miami who magically cured it WITHOUT SURGERY. So in theory if he had seen this doctor back in FRICKING NOVEMBER he would have been playing ALL YEAR razza frazza frickin frazza. So what I want to know is what did this miami doctor do to him? just pt? acupuncture? what?

Watching Sportsnite, Chris Miller didn't give the Examiner any props for reporting the Arenas thing a week prior to Ivan Carter. That's pretty sad. He credited Ivan for breaking the story.

WASHINGTON -- Washington Wizards interim coach Ed Tapscott on Wednesday attempted to clarify the extent of injured star Gilbert Arenas' participation in practice -- and the cover-up that went along with it.
