Giants cuts Demps, Londot, Huston, and more ... [Rotoworld]

Post#1 » by blueNorange » Sat Sep 1, 2007 6:46 pm

Giants released S J.R. Reed, CB Gerrik McPhearson, DT Jonas Seawright, TE Charles Davis, and T Joe Dunn.

The fact that the Giants released Reed and Demps today means they will find safety help on the waiver wire.

Giants cut QB Tim Hasselbeck.

It appears that Anthony Wright has made the team, but the Giants could scour the waiver wire for their No. 3 QB spot.

Giants release S Will Demps.

Demps had been working as the Giants' third-string safety, but a dislocated elbow was supposed to sideline him for a few weeks. Still, it's a surprising cut for the Giants' struggling secondary. He received an injury settlement.

Giants waived K Josh Huston, CB E.J. Underwood, OL Todd Londot, WR Brandon London, and DT Tui Alailefaleula.

This makes Lawrence Tynes the likely kicker in New York, although the Giants will probably keep an eye on the waiver wire.

We didn't cut Demps, we put him on IR.

The Giants today released 21 players, traded running back Ryan Grant to Green Bay for an undisclosed draft choice and placed safety Will Demps on injured reserve to formulate a roster of 52 players, one under the league's 53-man regular season roster limit.

That said I wish we would've kept Underwood. Hopefully we put him on the practice squad.

Guys I would like to see us use that last roster spot on: Ryan Smith, Aaron Glenn, Michael Haynes, Quentin Moses, Nate Ilaoa, and Alan Zemaitis.

I always though that Demps was a really good player for us.....especially tackling.

Good news: We signed Underwood and Gunn to the practice squad (along with Lentz and London).

Bad news: We signed Kevin Boothe and Dovonte Edwards (passing up Quentin Moses, Alan Zemaitis and Aaron Glenn) and cut Piller.

Damn, Cards cut Buster Davis. Raiders and Cards cut their third round picks, this is why they are two of the worst teams in the league.

We should've picked up both of these guys.

Better news: Doing a little research it seems both Boothe and Edwards are pretty good.

Raiders fans say Boothe was the lone bright spot on the OL last year with some labeling him a future star.

Vike fans are pissed about the Edwards cut, they say he's a great cover guy.

I still would've liked us to have grabbed Moses. He's too talented to pass up.

We cut Dovonte Edwards today to make room for Strahan.
