Hey Flash - how many hours are you putting in daily/weekly with your 360? Did 4 of them crap out because of overuse or because they are just flaky?

Okay guys, I know you've been on the edge of your seats, but I think I have finally made a decision. I've hemmed and hawed for long enough. In the end, I decided you can't mess with perfection. So without further ado...

You know Beasley is much more dangerous making runs than he is with the ball at his feet. He is also a good crosser and good defensively. On paper he sounds like the perfect left back. In the game however, when he briefly played there he looked completely confused about when to get up field. That seems to be what happens when you put a midfielder at outside back, i.e. Eddie Lewis in the WC.

I agree completely about Jozy, he needs to be on the field. I would prefer Torres or Adu to Klejstan, but I imagine Bradley doesn't see those guys as CM's in his system. Which is too bad because 90% of the creativity on the field for the US is named Landon Donovan. And when he plays up front, sometimes he doesn't get the ball and disappears. (The other 10% is named Clint Dempsey)

I would suggest we move this to the OT, but I don't know who is interested by such things apart from us...

i think its cool that you at least got to watch the game with people who enjoy soccer, as opposed to me, who watched the game on dvr by myself. :(

i would be totally OK with beasley moving to left back full time, as long as he had a chance to prepare. like you said, he has all the tools to be an ashley cole type (with hopefully better crossing, but less marking skills). maybe start giving him some time there now in hopes of having him ready by 2010. god knows it cant be worse than pearce. maybe spector can fill that role? too bad marvell wynne isnt left footed. i love his potential.

i am biased when it comes to adu, i think the kid is the truth, but hey, thats just me. if i was coach, i'd be building that team around jozy and freddy, regardless of their age. i'd love to find a formation that would allow jozy, landon, freddy, torres, bradley and dempsey to play together.

That's not hard to do.......

-------------------Howard---------------------
Wynne--Bocanegra---Gooch---Beasley
--------------------Bradley--------------------
----Dempsey---------------------Torres-----
------------------------Adu---------------------
----Jozy---------------------------Landon--

I imagine (hope) that Torres and Jozy will get the start vs. TnT. I would like to see Adu as well, but Bradley doesn't seem to like him.

How about a dual game thread for the Knick game on Wednesday? The nats game starts an hour before the cats play the Knicks. I'll do a quick write up on US/TnT just below Steve's for CHA/NYK. Maybe we can get some of these yahoos around here to watch...

e4, i dig your squad

or
-------------------howard-------------------
wynne--gooch--bocanegra--beasley
----------bradley---------torres-----------
donovan--------------------------dempsey
------------------adu-------------------------
-------------------------jozy-----------------

bench: guzan, spector, ching, davies, edu, sasha, frankie

thats my squad right there... sure it may give up a ton of goals, but it would be fun to watch. speed all over the pitch.

wednesday will be a beast of a tv night. bobcats, american idol, US soccer, ANTM. looks like AI result show gets the boot from the dvr. [prays for blind dude to get the ax]

Looks good Paydro, but you need left-footed players on the left. Delonte West? Derrick Fischer? I can't think of many smallish Left-handed players. Crash would be an excellent soccer player, the way he anticipates and get steals would be VERY useful. Not to mention he would suck up everything in the air. (I guess that wouldn't be much of a problem anyway with Bron/Stoudemire/Smith etc.)

but would crash be a diver? i mean, dude goes to the ground more than any player i've ever seen. he'd certainly be a beast in the air on set pieces though. haha.

Dear lord, I have no idea who is left-footed, or even left-handed (they're not always the same, right?)!

I imagine Crash could be a diver, Wade definitely might, and that's all the better if they are. Wallace on set pieces? Imagine lobbing the ball to Amare and LeBron!

What kind of line is that for soccer. When I played it was the standard

-----------------Goalie---------------------
---defense----defense----defense------
-------------------point--------------------
---center----center----center-----
---forward----forward---forward----

3 Forwards is a bit too ambitious modern soccer. Most teams use 1 or 2 Forwards, 4 or 5 mids and 3 or 4 defenders. Although on a team like Barcelona for example, a couple of their "mids" play so far up field that they are essentially forwards.

I don't think Crash would be much of a diver, it would be the really crafty players. Brandon Roy, Kobe, Chris Paul, Paul Pierce, etc.

Question for you guys, since it maybe better suited here. :D

This may sound confusing, but let's see....

I currenly live in Charlotte now, and am watching Heat games via League Pass that I ordered through my Cable Provider. Each of the games are shown on a set number of channels each night, and usually feature the home team's feed, so if the Heat play NY at home, I get the Miami broadcast as if I was still in Miami, as if they were in NY, I would get the MSG/NY feed.

Now, I was checking DirectTV last night, and they have the ability to purchase FSN Florida, the channel that Heat games come on in Miami, for $1.50/month. If I order FSN Florida here in Charlotte, will I still be able to watch those Heat games, or will they be blacked out?

I mean $1.50 x 6= $9; where as the league pass is $160...

I admit my choice of soccer line is based on my predilection in Winning Eleven for the 4-4-2 Bayern diamond. With this formation, I would imagine doing a whole lot of crosses into the box to those giant freaks, and I'm assuming that there is something inherent to Chris Paul and Allen Iverson that would make them incredible dribblers.

Real soccer teams more often run a 4-4-2 with the midfielders in a sort of line or a 3-5-1 with a DMF and an OMF... then again in real soccer positions end up meaning pretty little and most players range around in their vague zone.

It was mainly due to the way I had my unit placed inside my entertainment center, which was not letting any air in to cool the unit, which heats a lot during use. -- My brothers and I are were using those units that messed up at least 10-12 hours/week, as we were not only playing games, but watching movies on it, too.

But, since I've placed the unit in an open space where air is allowed to come in and cool the unit, I haven't experienced any issues, 8 months strong.

36/54

I couldn't spell schrempf or Seikaly.

Don't think I would've thought of Tisdale, Lohaus, Edwards, Benjamin, Person or Augmon in a million years. I'm disappointed for not remembering the Grants, Skiles and Manning. I've never even heard of Iuzzolino, is that guy for real?

I had no idea who Iuzzolino is....

Apparently he played all of 2 years in the L, neither of them very good.
http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/i/iuzzomi01.html

Jimmy Jackson is the obvious choice to be the second player on the mavs that year, but he was a rookie and perhaps not available. Taking a look at their roster I can see why they won 11 games that year.

When Legler, Rooks, and Jackson are the most well-known guys on your team, it's not a good sign.

I also wasted a great deal of time trying to spell "Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf" for no reason
