In an effort to bring awareness to the worldwide water crisis, Chicago lyricist Lupe Fiasco has confirmed plans to ascend Tanzania’s Mount Kilimanjaro.

Fiasco was recruited for the stunt by Ethiopian pop singer Kenna, whose father nearly perished as a child due to a lack of clean drinking water.

My dad almost died as a child from waterborne diseases in Ethiopia, and he had talked to me about digging a well there,” Kenna explained to Elle Magazine. “I thought, 'I have too many friends who would be concerned with the subject of clean water.’ Maybe I can help out.

Mount Kilimanjaro boasts the highest peak on the African continent at 19, 330 feet. Most routes to the top of the mountain take a maximum of 6 to 7 days.

Although the voyage is a popular retreat amongst climbers, the journey is not without its dangers.

An estimated 10 people die every year attempting to climb Kilimanjaro.

The majority of the fatalities are due to altitude sickness, which can cause swelling of the brain tissue (high altitude cerebral edema).

Despite the risks for a novice climber, Fiasco plans to make the event a light-hearted competition with his friend Kenna.

I'm an adventure junkie,” Fiasco stated. “Part of the motivation is beating Kenna to the top. Sabotaging his tent, taking the lining out of his coat, [and] lacing it with ants or something like that.

Along with Kenna and Fiasco, pop superstar Justin Timberlake is expected to participate.

The Mount Kilimanjaro charity climb is scheduled to take place this Fall.

At press time, Lupe’s anticipated third studio album Lasers is due out in June 2009.

All the best to Lupe. Probably my favorite artist right now.

Excited for Lasers (first time I spelled Lakers, haha) but yeah.. last thing I read about the CRS album said Late '09 but haven't heard anything since. :(

I''m psyched regardless. First Lasers, then another album after it due next year, then the expected CRS album, then LupEND, which in itself is three complete albums. That's about six more albums of material before Lupe calls it quits. That's an entire career of work right there.

Definitely. I didn't even know about LupE.N.D. until you mentioned it. That makes it even better, lol. :D

On another note, I recorded two more songs today. http://www.unsigned.com/DoctaJ "Memories Of You" and "*Untitled" are the new ones if anyone is interested in taking a listen. :)

Wow.. that's cool! Early, happy birthday.

And, you and a couple others advised me to hit the gym after my breakup. I can happily say, since then, I've lost 12 pounds and I got more muscle on my body then I've had in my entire life. :P

Nice Tyler!

After 3 months hitting the gym I think I have added 6 lbs of muscle mass to my body.

Big fan of the growth the new stuff shows, man. Did you get that mic? The engineering of the vocals is good and the content change was nice from "introducing me" to a new topic. I'm not a fan of the girl sample in the background, but I like the song, Dude. Nice. Unitled is cool too.

Cheers to that. I can't wait till i can start posting all these half done projects I'm working on in the 3 studios and producers I'm trying out.

And this time...it's a pretty big deal for me. OK, here's the info on this.

When: 4/18/09
Where:
Circus Disco
6655 Santa Monica Blvd.
Los Angeles, CA

Cost: FREE before 11pm if you sign up on my guestlist (message me first and last names, no limits and you'll be on "Tw33k's list")

Rules: 21+, no dress code...just don't come in flip flops, t shirt and jeans are fine.

INFO:
OK..now that the info is set. I'll be DJ'ing in the main room at Circus Disco. It says it's in Hollywood...but really in LA =P. ANyways, I'll be playing from 11pm-12:30a, which is among the peak hours. And it's a big thing for me is because of the DJ after me, which makes me the opener for the headliner. They're 2 Germans who's very well known with their composition and remixing songs. They're songs have been used by some of the best DJ's in the world, including me. 8-) Their name is "Duderstadt" but they are also known as "FRAGMA" which made songs that was insanely popular in the early 2000's called (Toca Me). I do hope you guys love house and trance music, cuz this event is one not the be missed. I'll be playing my usual...but he club has requested me to not go all out since I have to be respectful for the DJ's that play after me. Flier will be coming soon, but sign up for guestlist now!!

Hope to see you guys there. Tis will be a great night

I might be down for this. I'm not much into house/trance (cause I think its harder to dance to than hip hop) but my ex was, and I actually have a lot of Fragma songs on my computer. Would be cool hearing them live. Ill let you know closer to the date.

*although... santa monica is kind of a drive for me. I'm living out in the 626 for another month before I move into LA. Hmmmm we'll see

Dude, I live in Alhambra! Hit me up. :)

Thanks, DD! No, I didn't yet. I did however pick up a pop filter - which made a ton of difference. The girl sample was just a tag that the instrumental came with - once I lease the instrumental she'll be gone. :) Again, thanks man. Means a lot!

Yes! Still looking forward to those. :D

well good news here. The best studio in town with run by one of the most respected engineers had been offering to cut singles for me for 600 a piece, which I pretty much have said no to for over a year. Tonight the guy said he'd rather be a part of making me famous than making a dime and offered me unlimited time for free! Oh hell yeah. I know the downswing in business made a big diff, but he and i see real eye to eye on artists and sound and I've heard him turn bulllcrap into lemonade for many a band. I can't wait to start making some tracks there.
