soccer players actually deal with injuries more often than basketball players. other than goalkeepers, it is very rare for soccer players to play in all 40-50 games of the season(suspensions excluded) while there were around 30 players in NBA that played in all 82 games.

Did Eduardo recover from that nasty injury..

he returned but i doubt he'll ever fully recover.

Exactly. And lol @ football being tougher than basketball. In basketball, if someone hits you you hit him back. In football, if someone slaps you, you make sure ref is watching and you fall down like you've been shot.

Let's not even compare NBA to UEFA/FIFA....NBA is entirely disorganized and corrupted while UEFA/FIFA take care of business...

And no, it's not that I think soccer is better than basketball, I love both sports equaly but NBA has waaaaay more injuries than soccer does.

As someone who follows both sports closely on a daily basis, I see that there are far more injuries in soccer than there are in the NBA. Not only that but in soccer, particularly European soccer, when you get injured, they keep you out alot longer then they do in the NBA to make sure you are 100% healed. I think the main reason for that is you don't have unlimited substitutions in soccer like you do in the NBA. You have 3 subs a game in soccer and if you use those then some gets hurt, you have to play a man down.

BTW, the average soccer player runs closer to 7 miles a game with some running up to 10 miles a game.

You cannot tell me basktball and NBA is tougher sport than soccer. So many injuries in the NBA but so little in the soccer...this doesn't add up...

Watching one soccer tackle, where a defender takes down forward, it looks like he will never walk again the way he's fouled yet...he gets up and brushes it off...

Basketball has their pansies for sure, but don't start telling people soccer is this tough sport where players walk away from injuries. You're not talking about Rugby or Hockey where they'll play after they get 25 stitches to the face.

If you followed soccer you'd know there are a ton injuries throughout the course of a season.

David Beckham runs about 6 miles. Lionel Messi probably does 10.

I see at least one injury in just about every other soccer game I watch...whereas I've seen like 4 injuries on the court out of ~80 games I've watched.

Football, played the right way (i.e not by diving, play-acting pansies) is an incredibly tough sport. So is basketball.

But watch this and tell me it's not tougher than both of them:

Then, I would advice you to start watching a sport that nearly 5 billion people on this earth watch. 8-)

I would advise you to go to a soccer forum if you want to talk about soccer.

And if running around for 90 minutes = toughest athletes, then what are marathoners? They run for 3 hours, and not on soft grass either. And that's not even touching stuff like the Trans-Europe Footrace - a 9-week, 2800-mile trek from southern Italy to northern Norway.

so not a physical and intense sport ?? i suggest you check out these vids:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=spsniNfm ... re=related

ESPECIALLY THIS ONE: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LWeRwW2E ... re=related

Find me a video, where an NBA player died in a result of an hard foul.

I rest my case.

Just because someone posted a clip on youtube doesn't make it real. The guys is still alive and his name is Abdelhafiz Tesfawet (referring to the last clip)

As for heart problems, you should know it's not uncommon at all. Hank Gathers, Reggie Lewis.

you can also add Conrad McRae and Pistol Pete Maravich ( thou he did die after he retired in a pick up game and not an NBA game) to the list of NBA players that died while playing the sport.

The OP needs to check the injury table for the EPL.

In fact:

Soccer has far more injuries then basketball.
i'd also say it demands better cardio training. Most players on top teams run 8-12 km per game, most of that at full sprint.
flopping in soccer is less of a problem then flopping in basketball in recent y<ears. It's getting down in soccer, and they actually penalize floppers during or after the game. It's just getting worse in basketball.
But this is not the right place to talk soccer, everyone will hate on it.

ive read some time ago than basketball had the most sudden death situations of all sports, and the difference was massive
it has to be the most physically demanding, it was created by a physical education teacher, and those guys are the most evil people on earth on par with human trafickers and pedobear
