UTAH Trades :
Andrei Kirilenko
20th pick
to WAS for :
5th pick
Etan Thomas
Mike James
Why for UTAH :
They move Kirilenko which gives them the flexibility for this season to bring back their triumvirate of big men . And even the two fillers they get can fill roles as Thomas can be the 4th big behind that trio until Koufos is ready and James can fulfill that back - up PG role if they let Price go. Then with the 5th pick , they can go in a number of directions. They can acquire a back court mate for D Will like S. Curry. They can grab a wing like Harden as they get ready for life after Korver and Harpring . Or they can grab a big like Hill as insurance for if Milsap or Boozer's price tag becomes too high.
C - Okur / Thomas / Koufos
PF - Boozer / Milsap
SF - Brewer / Korver
SG - Harden / Miles
PG - Williams / James
Why for WAS :
They get a veteran , who doesnt require a lot of shots , but can make his impact felt on the court. The Wiz were at their best when they had Jared Jeffries in the line - up , defending against the best that the other team had to offer. Kirilenko is a massive upgrade over him . He can let the big three do their thing offensively while anchoring the D , and then occasionally dropping 20 if the other team forgets about him. And he's signed for only one more year than Thomas / James so it does nothing to the long term flexibility of the Wiz at all . With the 20th pick , the Wiz can then take a flier on a project like Austin Daye , who can sit for a while and then contribute.
C - Haywood / Blatche / Songaila
PF- Jamison / McGee / Pecherov
SF - Kirilenko / McGuire / Daye
SG - Butler / Young / Stevenson
PG - Arenas / Crittenton

The Wizards can't afford to make a trade like this financially. DOA.

Washington has made it clear they are looking to DUMP salary, so logically they should add the overpaid Kirelinko.
Neither team does this really IMO

Agreed, not a good idea for Washington. Both teams are trying to watch their salary next year, which makes a match difficult since each will want the other to overpay.

True, and the only way Utah takes a step back like this is if they get IMMEDIATE cap savings so they can attempt to keep their FAs. Paying for bad expirings doesn't solve the Jazz's issue either.

This may be true (though the more bodies do help, especially when you have only 10 players under contract). Either way, the value is way too good for the Jazz to pass up on this one.

Uhhhh....Utah would be nuts not to do this. They dump an overpaid bench player for expirings and a lotto pick? This is a no-brainer for the Jazz.

Re: WAS/UTAH - Kirilenko for # 5
I think I bring this up every couple of months but is there any conceivable way to package Antawn Jamison for Kirilenko, while bringing in a 3rd team (since I'm sure the Jazz do not want to take on his contract)? Possibly the Rockets?
I would really, really like Kirilenko's defense at the 4-spot for Washington and since it's obvious we cannot afford to keep the big-3 AND add AK47, Jamison would need to go.

Re: WAS/UTAH - Kirilenko for # 5
no.
I think Kirilenko's contract is not fitting the direction WAS is going towards seeing as their missing piece isk a SG/SF, so they are more likely to get the #5
Arenas/(Trade- Rip?)/Butler/Jamison/Haywood
IMO are a legit playoff team

Re: WAS/UTAH - Kirilenko for # 5
Utah would have a hard time saying no to this, however even if we were able to pull this trade off I dont think they'll be able to sign all three bigs. It's becoming pretty evident here in Utah that someone (or two) is going to be gone. Whether it's Memo and Milsap or Boozer, theres now way we can keep all three and still absorb Mike Jame and Etan Thomas... however Greg Miller has said publicly that they knew that when they signed Boozer and Memo then had to lock up Deron, there was a very good chance they would exceed the tax and have been preparing for that.
So it could be a VERY interesting offseason in Utah.
