We seriously do need some SF help. I think Bowen and Finley's days as a starter is over. I don't like the idea of moving Manu to SF and start with Mason. Jeez, I really wish we got Magz. We need SF help, another guy who can score and iso, a guy who can be a sparkplug off the bench, and a guy who can get to the FT line cause we suck at getting FTs. Magz is just about all of that.

What about Zaza Pachulia? He's still fairly young(25) and he can do all the dirty work under the basket next to Duncan. I think he could be had for around 3 million a season and I think if you give him a bigger role and more minutes he could be a very productive center for us just like he was in his first two years with the Hawks. I think he's going to be a steal for whoever picks him up.

Not sure if Magic ot their fans would consider this but would you do this:

Manu, Finley for S&T Turk (8-9 mil per for 4-5 years), Pietrus

?

Keep Parker and Duncan.

Trade Ginobili and develop Mason.
Use the money to get a big time scorer.

Not a bad trade at all, but Turk was a Spur in '04 and bolted after a year so I assume he didn't think much of the experience.

What are the odds of the Spurs trying to buy a late first this year? I know you guys have tried to avoid the luxury tax in the past and you're going to right near that level next year. If you were able to buy one, I think the perfect player for you guys to target is Sam Young.

Agreed. Also, Pietrus could be a very nice piece for us: ultra athletic SF with very good defensive instincts. Needs to be groomed, but would definitely help us.

I think Sam Young is going in the teens to tell you the truth. They have in the past tried and failed to move up. Last year they targeted Batum but they couldn't move up to get him. I also remember reading that they had a trade in place with Miami to trade their pick for Nelson but they got their guy(Wright) and the deal fell apart.

As for fixing, I personally would like the Spurs to everything they have to sign either Shawn Marion or Rasheed Wallace.

Rasheed I think is the best partner for Tim Duncan in this league. Shoots the 3, plays tough defense, strong post up game.

or Shawn Marion. I've seen the Spurs go small and small ball will never work if the small 4 can't rebound. If we go the traditional lineup, Marion is our best defender. He's just our perfect SF.

I think MLE is gonna be their value unless they get S&T.

The scary part is will Holt spend the mid level money to get one of these guys.
Seems like Dallas wants Sheed too.

Matrix would fix the D but the O would still be broken. And then the question is if Manu done? Is he doing surgury or rest?

Offensively, Marion would struggle to get in sync in a half court setting. He best fit in a run and gun style like the Knicks or Warriors for example.

Sixers trade:
C Samuel Dalembert

Spurs trade:
C Oberto
SG/SF Bruce Bowen
PF Bonner.

To me, we'd waive Oberto so it's really Bowen/Bonner for Dalembert. I thnk of it as a low-risk, high reward trade for the Spurs. They get a 6'11 guy to patrol the paint, blk shots. Also a guy offensively who can hit that 15 footer and can roam around the rim for Dunks off of Duncan Double-teams and parker/Ginobili when healthy.

Low risk/High reward type of trade. These are usually the trades you guys excel at :)

Last I checked, Marion can still shoot the 3 from the corner, and he's always a guarantee 12-15 points just with his hustle plays. That's more than what we're getting from our SF. Plus, he's good for atleast 8 rebounds a game and great defense. I want Shawn Marion hereeeeee!!!

He also think he is significantly more than the MLE and he absolutely sucks in the half court setting. He also has a massive ego, that I am sure that Pop wouldn't appreciate nor put up with.

depending on his desire to play for a winner he might be had for the MLE, with a lot of teams gearing up for the 2010 free agency San Antonio might indeed be a good fit for him.
His defence and rebounding are enough for me to get him here, I mean we did sign Glenn Robinson i'm sure if Pop can take Big Dog, he can handle Marion

Well I don't think guys come to San Antonio and keep his ego really with the guys around him. NVE and Glenn Robinson are prime examples. They didn't do much, but they certainly did not hurt our locker room.

Marion is significantly worth more than the MLE. If you think he's MLE player, you're joking. Marion right now deserve atleast 8 mil. He's still good enough and in his prime. With Marion, Manu, and Parker, we can finally start running a little as this team become Tony Parker's team and it has to be more uptempo and offensive minded than in years past.

In halfcourt, it's not like we're gonna give him the ball and let him create. Tell me something, our offense sucks againts Dallas. But that's without Manu. IMO, our defense shouldn't be as bad as it was and that's mostly because of the personnel. If we had a healthy Manu, I want this team to improve it's defense. Not offense.

As long as we have Pop as our coach, I want this team to be a better defensive team than an offensive team.

I agree, that Marion is worth more than the MLE, but with him stating that he wants to play for a winner and alot of teams really looking at gearing up for 2010 free agency it narrows his options a fair bit.
Maybe to the point where he can be had for the MLE, maybe...(fingers crossed)
