I know this has been asked before, but how do you block a member? There's one person in particular here that is really bothering me.

Yeah, the gap will go from C's 17, Lakers 9 to C's 17, Lakers 10...

According to the NBA, Lakers have 14. You can be in denial all you want..Gap is closing.

Lakers (and the NBA) only acknowledged the Minny titles a few years back when they noticed adding them would get the Lakers close to the Celtics. So Lakers = 9...

So with that being said I fail to see what an athletes does off court in his personal life and who he cheated on or how much liquor he drinks and who much cocaine he uses has anything to do with what he does on a basketball court. I just cant see that. So, I dont really care about Kobe and his cheating or Shaq and his antics or anybody else for that matter.

Huh? I never claimed it effected his basketball skill - just who ROOTS for a guy. <g> Learn to read. People don't like rooting for cheating hypocrits.

Anyone else finding the coverage unbearable this year. ABC is acting like the Magic aren't even there in all the promotional coverage. And don't get me started on Mike Breen. Its a repeat of last years gushing over the Lakers. Breen should never be allowed to call a game with a superduperstar or a big market team.

Not surprising...the only thing that would have eclipsed it would have been if it were LeBron instead of the Magic...

Tony, are we going to hear about Nelson's injury over and over again like we did with Bynum last season? Of course Ginobili is more important to San Antonio than Bynum is to LA and we hear little about his injury.

Kobe actually had a work out with Boston and ML Carr loved him. There was talk of Boston taking him at 9 in the draft, then Carr pulled off the Montross and 9 to Dallas for 6 and the Mavs 1st rounder the next season (hence Boston having two shots at Duncan in 97).

What seemed like a great trade at the time, two lottery picks that ended up being 6 in back to back years for 9 and Montross actually could have hurt Boston long term if Carr was genuine about loving Kobe and taking him at 9. Once they got into the top 6 the obvious pick was the young power forward from kentucky coming off of a national championship.

Interesting stuff. I didn't know Kobe worked out for the Celtics. That would have been weird. As for the top 6 in '96- if I'm not mistaken, I had heard that ML Carr was hoping Ray Allen would slide to #6. They made mention of this when he was first traded to the Cs last summer, and how it had come full circle since the organization wanted to draft him even back then.

Thats why I dig you Cs fans, SOMETIMES   and I agree that we did stink it up pretty badly in the finals last year, but hey we took that as a learning experience and we moved on.
I kind of credit our success this year to our lose last year to you guys in the finals, and I give props to Mitch for dumping Vlad and his contract as well as getting Mo and Shanon for getting rid of a player who never knew the meaning of the word DEFENSE and the fact that we were trying to dump a worthless player (Vlad) and at the sametime we got a wild card out of Shanon in one of our other weak areas and that was the P.G postition.

I'll be the first one to admit that the allegations regarding Kobe were likely false. The Celtics tanked for maybe 5-8 games three seasons ago. It is a complete exaggeration to claim they tanked for an entire season like you just did. ?

CF brahhh I never said that you guys tanked, show me anywhere in my post that I stated that you guys tanked. If anything on this post all I said was. "if you recall a couple of years ago you guys were being accused of tanking and I recall all these threads about your teams being questioned for tanking all season trying to get a better draft pick "

Now Im not going to lie I have posted not once but a few times that I felt that you guys did tank a few games that year for a better draft pick.............. I dont lie, and if I said that I man up to what I say, but I didnt say that on this post and the last time I have said you guys tanked was well over a year ago.

The list goes on and on of teams that tanked. Didn't the Lakers tank when they got Bynum? [/quote]
05 was the year from hell for us Laker fans and I dont think tanking was our goal nor was it the reason we got Bynum.
If you recall we lost in the finals, most of our core was gone, we got L.O Butler, and Grant. WE SUCKED. As for lamar Odom he was just getting used to the Triangle offense , THAT WAS HIS FIRST YEAR, That was also Carons first year with the lakers and he was trying to get used to the triangle offense. Grant was done and we took on his massive contract just to get rid of Shaq and his contract prevented us from getting a couple of good players around Kobe. Also that was one of L.O longest injuries he had ever faced in his career.

Celtsfan1980 wrote:There should be rules put in place to stop it, but I don't see how it's not legitimate. Obtaining players through the draft lottery(which the NBA likely fixes for the team they choose), free agency, and lopsided trades are not legitimate ways to build your team, but teams can still build a team the proper way. It is very rare these days though. And, yes, I expect Lebron to be a Knick. Probably D. Wade as well. It's certainly not legitimate, but based on my previous comments you should know I feel that way anyways. Also, why does the guy have a Yankee hat in your sig?

I agree there should be a lot of changes to this league and it starts with Stern, as far as Lebron and Wade, we have to wait and see but I think your right. As far as the puppet in my sig with the Yankees hat.......Thats Lebron hanging with Kobe since he has nothing else to do anymore this season.

Did anyone check out the re-dubbed Kobe/LeBron puppet commercial at redsarmy.com? Hilarious..."Hey Kobe, do you polish your rings, do you have a ring polisher? Hey LeBron, you ain't got no rings...are you gonna leave Cleveland? You should go to Orlando, they *did* beat you...hey LeBron, we can swim all summer, you're on vacation..." and etc....a riot!

Fansincebirth, Carr was quoted in Peter May's book about last year's championship team as talking about how much Larry Bird (who was with the Celtics in 96) loved Ray, but they never thought he'd slide to 6. They were almost certain the pick was going to be Antoine, which seemed like a home run at the time, and a good building block with two lotto picks coming up the next season.

80, I'm sure I could find an old Globe article on it if I google it, but I remember it well. I don't have any reason to make it up. I remember thinking the Celtics weren't in position to take a 6'6 high school guy with a questionable jumper! With the C's picking 9th they were working out second tier guys like Dampier and Jermome Willams, and later Kobe, and when ML traded into the top 6 he went on and on about how getting into the top 6 was a coup and it was almost universally agreed to at the time as the drop off seemed significant at 7 (I think either Kerry Kittles or Lorenzen Williams went 7) which is ironic considering how good the teens turned out.

No it actually took the Lakers that long to do the math of adding Minnies 5 championships to LA's.

I really don't care who wins....either way....If LA wins.. congrats to them!!!....

I feel the same way for Orlando....

In a way it would be a good thing for those folks living in California to have something decent to feel good about....after all it's been one wildfire after another there for sometime....throw in a catostrophic mudslide or two inbetween and an occasional earthquake along the way and factor in that their state is bankrupt and having to shut down services.... not to mention the constant traffic jams, the air polution and the gang wars that have plagued them for generations now....

Can you imagine the tragedy and the despair if their beloved Lakers were to lose in the finals with such a dominant team?

Hell ...Jack Nickolson would committ suicide!

Penny Marshall would pee herself...

And Arnold would have to order that the state flag be lowered to half staff...

Maybe it's just fitting and almost humanitarianlike that they have something decent to cheer about?

You know?....Somebody should make a disaster movie and call it :

"Cal-if-orn-i-a!" ??? :D

Seriously...the point is that it's not all glitter living in paradise!....

I'll still take our fortunes over theirs any day of the week....even when the C's lose and it snows two feet! :)
