Coming from a Nets fan, it's great to see RJ head to a contender. I can't give you a huge report from him for last season, but when he was with us, he was a great slasher who could finish, but his jumpshooting needed help. Couldn't really create for himself with his slightly above average ball handling, but he's an amazing guy to have when running the floor. His man-to-man defense was fine and he stopped several 3s for us when he needed to. We even used to put him on Bosh. He's also a great locker room character so you don't have to worry about those kinds of issues.

First off, CONGRATS guys! My dad and I are hard-core Lakers fan but we respect the Spurs and were sad to see them knocked out so early in the playoffs, the decline of Tim Duncan and the Spurs is something we're not looking forward to. We enjoy battling against you guys knowing you will ALWAYS bring it! Popps is the sh*t too! 8-)

My only issue is, with Oberto & Thomas gone, doesn't that make your frontcourt very thin? Any ideas on what the front office may do to surround Timmy with some help???

Great trade. At last some roster space for James Gist.

I think they will go after sheed and try to grab someone in the draft, plus role out the red carpet for Tiaggo Splitter. I am a rabid spurs fan, and I also respect the lakers, there are few teams that give me a better feeling to get through in the playoffs, and few teams that feel that bad losing to in the playoffs. It is going to be a fun year.

What a gorgeous Trade... If Manu is healthy the spurs can really beat the lakers

Congratulations. Does Duncan still have what it takes to put this team on his shoulders and take them to the top though?

Will a S+T for Sheed happen now? Finley & Bonner are two expirers and maybe Detroit likes George Hill?

im going to intrude on your board moreso now because im going to support the spurs in the west, being the nets are my east team.

im gonna be a supporter but im not gonna call myself a fan because that would be rude =P

but im predicting a 2010 championship now bahahha

I just noticed that Jefferson managed last year to shoot an impressive 40% from 3. It is one thing to do it when you are a Bruce Bowen getting spoon free threes because of other players, it is another when you are a 1st option most nights.

great trade for the Spurs. I expect MIL to waive 1 of those players if not all 3.

I bet all the NY fans are happy that James won't be winning a title this year either. Great Trade! I think going after Sheed with the MLE and trying to re-sign Bowen and Oberto after they get bought out would make the Spurs the favorites.

Wooow...you will be tough to beat.

PARKER/HILL
MASON/GINOBILI
JEFERSON/FINLEY
BONER
DUNCAN

BOWEN and OBERTO probably returning.

See you in finals :)

knicksup19 wrote:it seem like the spurs dont have any fans on here, most of the posts are congrats from fans of other teams. With that being said congrats great trade for the spurs ok for the bucks. That big 4 is pretty sweet spurs need health and a big man to put aside duncan (clippers seem to have an abudance camby would be perfect) the bucks save some money to possibly sign sessions and create room for 2010 but lets face it 2010 will be competive and no one is going to MIL that would be a hard sell even if there team was decent. So idk MIL is one of those franchise that must succeed thru the draft and trades while snagging a free agent here and there by overpaying them when there market value is low. MIL cannot win a bidding war when the player salary is already known hence a max player or say joe johnson 15mil, amare 16mil when players salaries are known they go to either good teams hometown teams are cities that are highly marketable.

I haven't been this happy since our last title.
I honestly thought we had a chance to beat the LAkers and not just beat the Lakers but win it all this year with a healthy Manu.
The addition of Roger Mason (5 game winning shots) and Drew Gooden, and to a lesser degree the utilization of the Red Rockets 3 pt shooting had made us a better team from 08.

Now there is no doubt.
Can't wait for the season to start. But first I have to hear its official.

WOW!!! RJ!!!

Today is one of the best days I've ever had!!! GO SPURS!!! Now all we need is a legit big to play alongside Duncan (and I'm thinking Sheed)... I'm not a big Splitter fan, I'm from Europe and I saw a couple of TAU games this season and I'm definitely not impressed even though I see where his assets are. I think we have to grab a big in the free agency and hopefully strike for gold in the draft - after all in every draft class, regardless how deep or weak, there are good 2nd-rounders.

And, of course, fingers crossed for Manu to return 100% and all guys to stay healthy! Wow, this is promising to be one sick lineup! I'm going to love next season!
