This is a small deal that may actually be good for us, and I like it. I think this deal is pretty even for both teams....we get rid of scrubs + #5 for:
Mike Miller 2008-09 Statistics
PPG 9.9
RPG 6.60
APG 4.5
EFF + 15.38
Randy Foye 2008-09 Statistics
PPG 16.3
RPG 3.10
APG 4.3
EFF + 14.00

Randy Foye 2008-09 Statistics

Re: Wiz trade 5th pick to Minnesota
I dig it. It's a nice middleground...sure Bosh or Amare would be nice, but this is a very solid deal.
Also this is probably the end of Nick Young's days. How about him + our 2nd rounder for a mid first? Would anybody bite?

Re: Wiz trade 5th pick to Minnesota
Wow. This deal is great for Washington. It's not exactly a ground breaking move for the franchise, but it's great regardless.
The Wizards get Mike Miller plus Randy Foye for basically the fith pick. The big thing I look at is Washington dumps off three bad contracts in this and doesn't lose a single young player. I don't think Ernie was taken to the cleaners at all. I think the deal in all honestly somewhat fair. The Wolves get Washington's bad contracts and a potential really good player in the 5th while recieving a few bad contracts and we take Foye and Miller off their hands to add some serious depth. Now, I don't know if Miller is the guy I want at the two for Washington but I'm not exactly sure EG is done dealing. But with it standing as is. I love it, simply because I love Foye's game. He can be a huge scoring punch coming off that bench or potentially starting at 2.
I'm a little disappointed that we couldn't land Stoudemire, but this deal is great regardless. Bad contracts dumped and the team just became significantly deeper.

I actually think Young stays based on what Flip was saying. Flip was high on Blatche too. Guess what, Blatche is now fulltime backup PF with Songaila gone. I think DS is traded with James soon.

I sense another move. I don't see us keeping our 2nd round pick now.
Exactly, I don't think EG is done here at all.

I'd try and trade James+Stevenson for a wing defender.
Christ, I'm sorry but why am I the only one who for months has been saying our perimeter defense is THE WORST IN THE LEAGUE. We just added a guy who will knock Dom out of his spot, thus replacing a budding defender for a eh defender. That makes us worse at the thing we are known leaguewide for being awful at. Seriously, what are you people smoking to think that we have a shot with this defense? If we got a John Wall lottery ticket, then I'm fine with it. If not, this trade is God awful. Oh, but we're basing our championship hopes on the Blatche. I forgot. That's another great idea. He seems so up for the job. Again, I'm lost as to how the collective on this board is removed from basic reality lately.

I actually really like this trade for you guys, you unloaded lots of terrible players on bad contracts plus a pick in a bad draft for two guys who can actually play.

Re: Wiz trade 5th pick to Minnesota
Does anyone have the updated cap numbers? Nate? Weapon?
It's not a bad deal at all. It's not sexy, but it improves the team and helps on the cap end of things.
And LOL at someone complaining about the defense getting worse, like the 5th pick was going to make a difference on that end.

Re: Wiz trade 5th pick to Minnesota
Maybe having a coach who doesn't preach protect the paint will improve the defense? Maybe having Haywood back improves the defense? Miller has the size (6'8) to be decent as a defender. Its a solid deal. We now have a backup PG in Foye. As I said, we can trade James+Stevenson for a permeter defender.

Calm down barely. No deal we made was going to improve this defense. Change starts from within.

Re: Wiz trade 5th pick to Minnesota
Primarily a jump-shooter, especially after coming back from a knee problem that sidelined him for over half of his sophomore campaign. Relies heavily on the pick and roll as a huge source of offensive production. Shifty player with strong hesitation moves. Capable of punishing players that go underneath the screen, and does a solid job finding the open man passing off the dribble. Doesn’t get to the basket at a good enough clip, does a poor job finishing once there and draws fouls at a fairly poor rate. More likely to pull up from mid-range than he is to go all the way to the basket. Ball-handling skills are good with his right hand, but defenders like to force him to his left, where he is noticeably slower and less effective. Not super explosive off the dribble, struggles to turn the corner at times and is not an incredible leaper finishing around the rim. Doesn’t take the ball strong enough. Like many young players still adapting to the length and athleticism of NBA big men, needs to do a better job seeking out contact and not getting cute with his finishes. Can play off the ball, but is more effective with it. Team’s half-court offense tends to lack some fluidity with him at the helm at times. Not a selfish player and is capable of finding the open man, but has a tendency to over-dribble at times.

Build your team w/5 shooters using P. Pierce Form deeply bent hips and lower back arch at same time b4 rising into shot. Elbow never pointing to the ground! Good teams have an engine player that shoot volume (2000 full season) at 50 percent.Large Hands

Does this mean McGee is our back up C???
I would say we need another vet PF/C... Trade James & Stevenson to get that kinda guy... Any ideas???

Re: Wiz trade 5th pick to Minnesota
We don't need a "decent defender." We have Arenas, AJ and Caron on the damn team (not to mention McGee). We need GREAT defenders to hide these fellas. And, in fact, we already have too many non-defensive players to hide. Without a GREAT defender, we have zero... zippy.... nada shot at being anything but a decent playoff team. And this move put that in cement -- unless there is a pick or another move coming. If not, I think it is utterly delusional to think this helps us. I'm sorry. That's my view. I'm pissed.

Re: Wiz trade 5th pick to Minnesota
Foye has played SG and PG and has been up and down at both. He's not injury prone, but he's hit a string of small nicks. Was finally getting comfortable and hitting his stride as a 19/5 player last year in January and February until he got a hip pointer and eventually had to shut it down. He's under the radar, but he's definitely your best SG by a large margin. Better than Mike. Mike should be 6th man, though it might be the other way around at first.

Re: Wiz trade 5th pick to Minnesota
By the way, Mike Miller had a pretty bad year this year. He is usually a much better scorer and shooter than he showed.
